Twelve homes were evacuated in Providence Landing Saturday, as an armed man was threatening suicide.
The incident happened around 3:15 p.m. as a welfare check was performed on an adult male threatening suicide. He had locked himself inside the home, and was possibly armed. Mt. Juliet Police Department’s Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiators responded to the scene, as well as the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Crisis Negotiation team.
The Providence Landing entrance was closed during the ordeal. The man came out of the home at 6:15 p.m. after speaking with a Wilson County Sheriff Crisis Negotiator. He was sent to the hospital for treatment.
“I hate that many of our residents were displaced during this incident, but the well-being of the barricaded individual and the safety of the public was our top priority,” stated Chief James Hambrick. “We appreciate Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan and his team of fine officers for responding to assist us.”
