Lane shifts on I-40 construction
Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews have shifted traffic on Interstate 40 eastbound under Mt. Juliet Road.

The shift is necessary to all crews to widen and lower the road so large vehicles will have the necessary clearance to get under Mt. Juliet Road. It splits eastbound lanes with one lane right of the work zone and two lanes to the left. This will last roughly two weeks, then will be shifted again. TDOT’s message board signs will locate motorists to the change.

This work is part of the $55 million widening of I-40 from Central Pike to east of State Route 109.   This project is anticipated to be complete later this winter.

For more information on TDOT construction project activity visit the TDOT SmartWay web site atwww.tn.gov/tdot/tdotsmartway/.  Travelers can also dial 511 from any land-line or cellular phone for travel information or can follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/TN511 for statewide travel information orwww.twitter.com/Nashville511 for traffic information in the Nashville area.

Android and iPhone users can download TDOT’s SmartWay Mobile App to assist them in navigating Tennessee highways. The app provides up-to-the-minute customized traffic information and enables the user to access TDOT’s SmartWay cameras, messages displayed on overhead Dynamic Message Signs, and information on construction related lane closures and incidents on interstates and state routes. The TDOT SmartWay App is free and available for download in the Apple App Store and Play Store for Android.
