Two armed men rob J.M. Market

Two armed men robbed J.M. Market on Nonaville Road early Friday morning. 

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, around 5:20 a.m., a panic alarm brought officers, where it was discovered that an armed robbery had just occurred. Two men wearing masks entered the store, one pointed a handgun at the clerks, and another demanded cash from the register. An undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were taken by the robbers. After the robbery, the men ran out the front door and fled on foot, scattering packs of cigarettes.

Antioch man hit by car on East Division

An Antioch man was killed after being struck by a car on East Division Street Wednesday morning, Sept. 11. 

According to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, James W. Buchanan was walking along East Division Street just before 6 a.m. when he was struck by a car driven by Iris J. Shelton, 62. According to the report, Shelton did not see Buchanan because of darkness and fog. No citations or criminal charges were issued. 

Out of state Woman found deceased in car in Waffle House parking lot

An unidentified woman from out of state was found deceased in her car at the Waffle House in Mt. Juliet Friday. 

According to the Mt. Juliet Police Department, around 5:30 p.m., officers were called to the Waffle House on South Mt. Juliet Road. Officers and Wilson Emergency Management determined the female was deceased. She was 52 years old. 

MJPD’s criminal investigators processed the scene for evidence, and the medical examiner responded to process the body. It was determined there was no foul play and this was not a criminal incident. 

MJ Pow Wow set for Sept. 28-29

The 32nd annual Mt. Juliet Pow Wow is set to kick off Saturday, Sept. 28 at Mundy Memorial Park. 

The 9th annual memorial Trail of Tears walk will kick things off at 8 a.m. The walk will go from Grace United Methodist Church to Charlie Daniels Park. A memorial and breakfast will follow. 

Gates will open at Mundy Park at 10:30 a.m. There will be Native American food, crafts and music, Apache Crown Dancer and Hoop Dancer. 

There will also be a dance contest with $11,000 worth of prize money. 

September has been named American Indian Heritage Month by the state of Tennessee. 

Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for kids 12-and-under. Kids 5-and-under are free. 

GladeFest Antique Car & Truck Show Saturday

The 11th annual GladeFest Antique/Classic Car & Truck Show will highlight a day of free family fun at GladeFest on Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Gladeville community just off of TN-840 at Stewarts Ferry Pike.

The car show will feature over 40 classifications, with special awards in the following categories:  President’s Choice, Longest Driven, Best of Show Stock and Best of Show Modified. Registration will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and awards will be presented at 2:30 p.m.
