Wilson County Democratic Women donate book to library

The Wilson County Democratic Women recently presented a book to the Wilson County/Mt. Juliet Library. The book was donated in honor of Steve and Linda Armistead, long time residents of Mt. Juliet. Donating a book to each of the three Wilson County libraries during the year is an ongoing community project.

First Freedom Bank is among a limited number of banking institutions that now offers innovative technology giving customers the convenience of opening depository accounts online. Customers will have the option to take care of all of their basic banking needs without the worry of traveling to a branch. The service will extend First Freedom’s reach and will complement the bank’s current online portfolio including bill pay, fund transfers and mortgage application services.

Local robotics team win high honor at competition

A team of local high school students, Robot Programming Guild (RPG), traveled this past weekend to Huntsville, AL to compete in the inaugural FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Qualifying event. The five member team is comprised of Ryan Baxter of Smyrna, Chandler Bastin of Lebanon, Chance Ferguson of  Rockvale, Josh Frieburger of Gallatin, and Josh Garnto of Mt. Juliet. They won the Inspire Award, the highest honor, which is awarded to the team that is judged to truly embody the challenge of the FTC program.  The Inspire Award Winner is an inspiration to other teams, acting with Gracious Professionalism™ both on and off the playing field. This team understands how to communicate their experiences and knowledge to other teams, sponsors, and the judges.

Commissioners vote to allow handgun classes for teachers

The Mt. Juliet Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 to allow any Wilson County school teacher a discount on handgun safety courses instructed by the Mt. Juliet Police Department.
