MJ ROTC collects for Toys for Tots

Santa had 40 extra elves this year in helping to provide a brighter Christmas to families in Wilson County.   

Cadets from the Mt Juliet High School Marine Corp JROTC worked tirelessly with Toys for Tots this past week to provide over 600 food containers.  They sorted thousands pounds of food so that each container had two boxes of much needed food supplies for a Merry Christmas. Each container held the traditional stock for a great Christmas breakfast and feast, as well as other food stuffs. After the food containers were distributed, many of the cadets went to over to The Mother’s Toy Store.

Ascend Federal Credit Union opening Mt. Juliet location

Ascend Federal Credit Union is building a new financial center in Mt. Juliet. 

Located at 300 Pleasant Grove Road, Suite 510, this facility will be Ascend’s 16th Middle Tennessee financial center and its first location in Wilson County.

MJ Tennis Girls give $3,000 to Charis

The Mt. Juliet Tennis “Girls” recently presented a check for $3,000 to Charis Health Center.  On hand to accept the check was Charis Executive Director Karen Rudzinski.    The money was raised at their annual tennis tournament held Oct. 15 at Charlie Daniels Park in Mt. Juliet.

MJPD officer involved in shooting Saturday

A Mt. Juliet Police Department officer is on administrative leave after shooting a man who pointed a gun at officers and an innocent bystander Saturday. 

According to a Mt. Juliet Police Department press release, around 2:30 a.m., Mt. Juliet Police officers responded to a dispatched call of a man threatening to kill himself at a Mt. Juliet home in the 700 block of Stonegate Drive. Officers arrived on the scene and established a safety perimeter around the home.

MJPD taking apps for Citizen Police Academy

The Mt. Juliet Police Department is currently accepting applications for their upcoming session of the Citizen Police Academy. The academy provides community members with an inside look at local law enforcement, giving an overview of the police department’s function and operations.
