Duncan seeks return to District 2 seat

A former County Commissioner has thrown his hat back into the political ring to run for his old seat.

Terry Duncan, who represented District 2 in 2008, says he is running for office again because he’s concerned that members of the county commission want to use new taxes to fund county government instead of operating it more efficiently.

Choral students at Mt. Juliet High School were invited to take part in “Voices on Broadway” in New York this March. The program offers them a chance to practice and perform with a Broadway cast at Disney’s acclaimed New Amsterdam Theatre. They will receive hands on training from top professionals while getting a look backstage.

Make-A-Wish sending Roby to Disney World

A wish was granted recently for Mt. Juliet High School basketball player and breast cancer patient Ashley Roby thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which will send her and her family on a trip to Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Encore hosting Phantom Ball

The board of Encore Theatre Company, Wilson County’s community theatre, is pleased to announce a new first prize has been added to their list of prizes in their upcoming “Phantom Ball” Saturday night, Oct. 13.

David Stephens of Kimber Dawn Gardens (formerly Juliet’s Wedding Chapel) in Mt. Juliet has offered a candlelight wedding ceremony and reception inside the theatre, a $1600 value, for the 1st Prize drawing at Encore’s Phantom Ball, in addition to the Grand Prize of $1,000 (in a reverse drawing). “I wanted to do something to help this charming Theatre in Wilson County,” Stated Stephens, “so I figured the best way is to offer a wedding and reception in the theatre. Encore’s board agreed. We are excited to help a lucky couple win a unique wedding.”
