George W. Etheridge, “Al”, 93, died Monday, July 23.
Etheridge was a charter member of Silver Springs Baptist Church and a retiree of the Metro Fire Department. He was an avid coon hunter and baseball fan. Etheridge was the son of the late, George Washington and Lizzie Pace Lewis Etheridge. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine Bradley Etheridge; son, Donald (Martha) Etheridge and two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by: wife, Helen Gray Etheridge; sons, George Wayne Etheridge, Paul Etheridge and Ken (Sandra) Etheridge; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Russ Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Eldon Horner, Omer Mayo, Clarence Dickens, George Davis, Bo Reed, Jimmy Hudson, Kevin Etheridge and Sammy Etheridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Petty, Tommy Poole, James Page, Wesley Hudson, James Wright, Billy Brown, John Dixon, Tommy Ramsey, Elza Smith, Larry Capps, William Bender, Gail Ellis, Barry Graves, Charles Johnson, Travis Johnson and the Silver Springs Senior Men’s Sunday School Class.
