Kenneth Warner Whaley, 83, Hermitage, died Monday, Oct. 22.
Whaley was a member of Hickory Bend United Methodist Church. He earned his Master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Whaley was head of the Milk and Water Laboratory for the State of Tennessee and wrote part of the procedures manual. He was a lifetime farmer. Mr. Whaley is the son of the late, William Rufus and Olive Louella Coker Whaley.He is survived by: Wife of 52.5 years, Sara Yancey Whaley; sons, Linton Whaley and Paul Austin (Leisa) Whaley; grandchildren, Reid Joseph Whaley and Allison Rebecca Whaley.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Susan A. Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Bend United Methodist Church, 605 Stewarts Ferry Pike, Nashville, TN 37214 or the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee, 2407 River Drive, Knoxville, TN 37996.
