James Vance, 53, Mt. Juliet, died Sunday, Jan. 27. Jimbo was the owner of Vance Brothers Paving. He was a former stock car driver at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway where he held two track records. Jimbo was also a champion in the Tennessee Carting Associaton. He is the son of the late Frank Vance, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Ava Vance and William and Bessie Girton and his uncle, Don Girton. He is survived by: wife, Nancy Drake Vance; mother, Irene Vance; children, Jimbo’s daughter, Torri Vance and Nancy’s son, Devery Moses; brothers, Frank Vance, III and Bentley Vance; niece, Madison Vance.Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Steve Vaughn and Dr. Eddie Fine officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jim Lewis, John Blackwell, Ricky Bolden, Jim Taylor, Jim Ogletree and Tony Formosa. Honorary pallbearers will be Sterling Marlin, Mike and Darrell Brawley, Mark Harrison and all drivers and crew members of Nashville stock and go kart racing. Flowers accepted or memorials may be to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
