Eddie Ross, 55, Hermitage passed away Jan. 27. 

He is preceded in death by: father, Hilton Ray Ross, Sr. and step-father, Richard Gary Hamblin. 

He is survived by: mother, Shirley Hamblin; brothers, Ray Ross, Jr. and Kevin Hamblin; sister, Benita Harris; uncle, James Massey; niece, Whitney Holland; nephews, Zachary (Tram) Ross, Trey Harris and Benjamin Harris; great-nephew, Landon Ross; great-niece, Kinley Holland; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were Monday, Feb. 2 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Daryl Blankenship and Brad Anderson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Ballentine Cemetery with Dale Anderson, Grady Anderson, Shane Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Marshall Anderson and Travis Byers serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Sunday, Feb. 1 and Monday, Feb. 2 until time of service.

Donald Ray Griffith, 76, resident of Mt. Juliet for 18 years, was born in Marysville, Kan. Feb. 19, 1938 and went to his heavenly home Jan. 24. 

Griffith was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet and a member of Gideons International helping to distribute copies of Bibles for many years. He was a graduate of Hiawatha High School, Highland College and Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia, Kan. He earned a Phd from Temple University in Philadelphia, Penn. Don spent his life helping children and some adults who were developmentally delayed, learning disabled or brain injured. He worked for many years writing developmental guidelines to rehabilitate those who were disabled. Don worked in San Antonio, Texas before moving to Tennessee where he worked and retired from the State of Tennessee as a Licenser Coordinator for Mental Health and Mental Retardation facilities. Antique cars, fishing and hunting were among his favorite pastimes. Don was preceded in death by his father, Claris Raymond Griffith; mother, Thelma Marguerite Colvert Schnackel; step-father, Louie Schnackel; siblings, Roger Griffith and Sharon Mauslein. Don’s contributions of improving life for many, his being a Christian role model for his family and friends, as well as loving husband and father, means he will be missed very much. 

He is survived by: wife, Carolyn Friel Griffith; daughters, Becki Crawford of Jonesborough; Frances (Vic) Griffith of Mount Hope, Ala.; Jodi (Matthew) Mason of Orlando, Fla.; siblings, Ronald Griffith and Debbie (Terry) Reschke; grandchildren, Richard Crawford, Brett Granstaff, Cody Patrick and Cheyenne Patrick; great-grandchildren, Brett Crawford and Ethan Crawford.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Bond Memorial Chapel with David Fallin and Gordon Donahoe officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Richard Crawford, Cody Patrick, Vic Patrick, Matthew Mason, Taylor Agee, and Terry Reschke. Honorary pallbearers will members of the Don Dillingham Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet.

John Hamblen, 89, Mt. Juliet passed away Jan. 23. 

He is preceded in death by: wife, Eudine Binion Hamblen; parents, Terry and Lois Hamblen; sisters, Mary Clark and Corrine Gilbert; and brother, Boot Hamblen. 

He is survived by: sons, James “Jim” (Wendy) Hamblen and Wayne (Diane) Hamblen; daughter, Jean Veach; grandchildren, James Hamblen, Timothy Hamblen, Christy (James) Jamison, Billy Hamblen, Shandra (Rick) Mixey, Christopher Hamblen, K. C. Veach and James Veach; 10 great-grandchilren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Rev. Danny Sellars officiating. Interment followed the service at Rutland Cemetery with Billy Hamblen, Christopher Hamblen, Timmy Hamblen, Jimmy Hamblen, Kenneth Veach, Jacob Hamblen and James Veach serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Monday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 27 until time of service.

Family visitation was Saturday, Jan. 24 with funeral following at JC Hellum Chapel, Elder George Redmond eulogist; Rev. Tim Bryant officiant. Burial Mt. Ararat Cemetery.

Annie Kate James, born Oct. 5, 1922, went peacefully to be with her heavenly Father on Jan. 25.  She worked and retired from Dillards Department Store, was a member of Mt. Juliet First Baptist Church, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Mt. Juliet Home Demonstration Club.

James is preceded in death by: parents Fred and Euda Beatrice Patterson and beloved husband R.B. James.  

She is survived by son, Hugh B. (Joyce) James, daughter, Brenda Tippit, brother, Jimmie Patterson, and grandchildren, Rhonda (David) Baker, Donna (Danny) Francis, Timothy (Donna) James, Tammy (John) Steiger, Terry (Dusty) Garmon, Toy (David) Keatts, Ted Cunningham, and Katie Maguire, twelve great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.  

The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Billie Friel, is 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Interment in Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens following the service.  Family will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers: The Mt. Juliet Home Demonstration Club. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
