Steve Moore, 71, Old Hickory, passed away Nov. 7.

Steve was born July 12, 1943 in the Old Hickory Village to the late Cora Adair Moore.

A lifelong member of the Old Hickory community, he graduated from DuPont High School, attended Martin Methodist College, and worked at DuPont for 40 years. He was a member of Hermitage United Methodist Church, a loving husband, devoted father, and proud “Papa”.

He is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Elaine Troxler Moore; daughters, Jennifer Moore Marshall (Trey) and Kristi Moore Nix (Taylor); grandchildren, Eli, Leah, Abby, and Will Marshall and Kaylee and Ginger Nix; and brother, Jim Moore (Shirley).

Visitation was at the Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, Hadley Chapel, 1700 Hadley Ave., Old Hickory Sunday, and prior to the service Monday.

Interment followed at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Betty J. Risner, 70, Nashville, died Thursday, Nov. 6, with her family by her side. 

Betty was a graduate of Hendersonville High School and attended Austin Peay State University. She began working for the State of Tennessee in 1964 when she was 20 years old, and served in the Labor Department, the FFA, the Education Department and ended her service with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, from which she retired in 1995. She met the love of her life, Larry, on July 4, 1964 and vowed that day to a friend that she had “met the man that she would marry.” They did indeed marry on March 26, 1965. Betty was the daughter of the late, Joe and Margie Guthrie Burlason. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Burlason, Jr. and Edward “Rocky” Burlason. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. 

She is survived by: husband of 49 years, Larry Risner; daughter, Beth (Rick) Benson; sister, Suzanne Gentry; brother, Donald (Gloria) Burlason; grandson, Kyle Benson.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 10, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Ken Clayton officiating. Interment  followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Gideons International or the Wounded Warrior Project.

Dorothy Mae Singleton, Lascassas, born July 28, 1931, went to her reward Nov. 6. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hilton and Edith Williams, husband of over 50 years Prentice Singleton, son Robert James Singleton, brothers Robert Smith, Oscar, and James Williams and sister Nina Williams. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge the caring staff of Community Care of Rutherford County. Their caring and support helped fulfill her final years on this earth. Sharon Dawn Freeman Blackwood, 57, Lebanon, died Nov. 2. 

Sharon along with her husband, James owned Blackwood Truck Repair. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Eugene Freeman and her twin grandsons, Elijah and Noah Ezell.

She is survived by: husband of 41 years, James Blackwood; daughters, Taimi (Jeremy) Reese, Christy Thomas and Jamie (Philip) Ezell; mother, Dawna Freeman; brother, Billy Mike (Donna) Freeman; sisters, Sandy (Marvin) Summers and Karen (Henry) Gutierrez; grandchildren, Tyler Thomas, Joseph Reese, Alaina Thomas, Bekah Reese, Hunter Thomas, Kaitlyn Romer, Joshua Reese, Karlee Ezell and Dallas Ezell.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mike Reese officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

Cathleen Maria Coleman, 47, Milan, died Nov. 1. 

Cathleen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Milan. She is preceded in death by father, Alton Coleman; grandmother, Lois Ruth Pratt and grandfathers, Martin Samuel Pratt and Ira Coleman.

She is survived by: grandmother, Virginia Hubbard Coleman; mother, Sammie Jean Coleman; aunts, Bobbie Sue Priddy and Geraldine Brown; daughters, Lyndsey (Brandi) Johnson and Whitney (Sean) Johnson; sister, Julieanne (Paul) Coleman Trimmer; nieces and nephews, Kathryn Anne, Shelby, Chase, Ty; several cousins.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 3 at Bond Memorial Chapel with William Wiley officiating.
