Mary Lou Rice Frazer, 96, lifetime resident of Mt. Juliet, died Jan. 31. 

Mary Lou was a member of Hermitage Church of Christ. She was retired from South Central Bell where she had worked since she was 18 years old. Mary Lou was a member of the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce. She was an avid volunteer over her life span with the Jerry Lewis Telethon, March of Dimes, Big Brothers of Wilson County and the Wilson County Election Commission. She also worked on many Presidential, Senatorial and Gubernatorial elections. Mary Lou was the daughter of the late, William Hooper and Mary Lucian Hunter Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Keeling “Buddy” Frazer and her siblings, Edward, Earl, Vivon, William “Bill”, Margaret Elizabeth, Thomas and Gordon.

She is survived by: sister, Dixie Tanksley; four generations of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. August Ruff officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Chris Ek, Trey McCracken, Josh Rice, Jordan Rice, Roy Tanksley, Scott Dabbs and Chuck Pelfrey.

Dorothy Edith George, 87, Hermitage, died Jan. 29. 

Dottie was a longtime resident of McKendree Village where she served as a volunteer. She enjoyed sewing, handwork, crafts, painting and was considered to be a “BINGO Queen”. Dottie loved watching tv, especially westerns. She was the daughter of the late, Earl and Karen Matthews Chambliss. Dottie was also preceded in death by her husband, Louis George and several siblings. 

She is survived by: daughter, Karen (Marvin) Cropsey of Lebanon; son, Greg (Cheryl) George of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Kristen (Dan) Kozlow, Christopher (Sarah) Cropsey and Andrew (Nikki) Cropsey; great-grandchildren, Emma, Nathaniel and Benjamin Cropsey.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Grace United Methodist Church, 2905 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt. Juliet, TN with Pastor Jeff Streszoff and Pastor Ken Edwards officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203 or the Governor’s Book from Birth Foundation, 312 Rosa L. Parks Avenue, 27th floor, Nashville, TN 37243.

Visitation was Monday at the funeral home and prior to service time Tuesday at the church.

Joyce H. Hamblen,  80, Mt. Juliet, died Jan. 27.  

Joyce was a member of Victory Baptist Church and the Wayne Oakley Sunday School Class. She was a former member of New Hope where she served as pianist for over forty years. Joyce was the daughter of the late, Will C. and Rosie Lee Sullivan Hamblen. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Donald Hamblen and her brother-in-law, Kenneth Donnell.

She is survived by: husband of 61 years, Charles “Casey” Hamblen; daughters, Sonja (Andy) Stewart and Melanie (Kevin) Brewer; sister, Faye Donnell; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hamblen; grandchildren, Andrew Stewart, Christy Brewer and Lauren Brewer; Aunt, Margie Gilliam; cousin and friend, Doris Hall.

Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 29 at Victory Baptist Church, 1777 Tate Lane with Rev. Chuck Groover and Rev. John Whisenant officiating. Interment was private. Active pallbearers were Andrew Stewart, Ray Twyman, Wayne Oakley, Joe Leath, M.C. Kent and Jeff Hamblen. Honorary pallbearers were the Wayne Oakley Sunday School Class, James Hayes, Grady Jenkins, Charlie Hugh Smith and Ken Donnell.

Visitation was Wednesday at the funeral home and Thursday at the church.

Darrell Lea Hooks, 63, Old Hickory, died Jan. 30. 

Darrell Lea was a member of Our Father’s House Community Church. He was a longtime employee of Nashville Machine and an avid fisherman. Darrell Lea was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mother Callis; his brother, Steve Hooks and his nephew, Jerry Shadix.

He is survived by: daughter and son-in-law– Starr and Curtis Pinkleton; parents, Darrell and Mildred Hooks; sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia Fortune and Brenda and “Buddy” Shadix; niece and nephews, Angie and Randy Corbin, Brandon Fortune and Bradley and Ashley Fortune; great-niece, Jera Corbin.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jim Rowlett  officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Pinkleton, Buddy Shadix, Danny Williams, Johnny Henley and in absentia, Ronnie Douglas.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorial be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.

Glenn Kemp, Sr., 92, Mt. Juliet passed away Jan. 30. 

He was on the motorcycle patrol with the THP, a member of the Confederate Air Force, an accomplished pilot and a member of the Central Pike church of Christ. Kemp was preceded in death by parents, Eugene and Dexter Kemp; and daughter, Elaine Scoby. 

He is survived by: wife of 72 years, Frances Kemp; children, Glenn Allen (Sandy) Kemp and Peggy (Mike) Buford; grandchildren, Billy (Michelle) Scoby, Kimberly (Scott) Howard, Kristy (Jay) Woodard, Alison (Brian) Hensley and John (Chelsea) Buford; and great-grandchildren, Max, Jake, Dakota and Trey Scoby  and Hannah and Heather Woodard.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. John Miller and Bro. Vernon Russell officiating. Interment followed the service at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Tuesday, Feb. 3 until time of service.
