Clara Mae Rice Sikes,  80, Mt. Juliet passed away Jan. 1. 

She is preceded in death by husband of 54 years, James Sikes; daughter, Lisa Casas; parents, Roy and Willie Rice, Sr. and brother, Roy Rice, Jr. 

She is survived by daughter, Trudie (Freddie) Weston, Jr.; brother, Oscar Dale (Naomi) Rice; grandchildren, Amber (Bobby O’Neal) Venable, Brooke (Jonathan) Hines and Ethan (Jessica) Weston; great-grandchildren, Weston James Hines and Pressley Merrill Hines.

Funeral services were Jan. 5 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro Wendell Moore officiating and Bro. Marion Caruthers assisting. Interment followed the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with her nephews, Jim Johnson, Michael Johnson, Terry Atkinson, Oscar Rice, Jr., Roy Rice and Jay Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Staff and Residents at Emeritus/Brookdale Assisted Living. Visitation with the family was Sunday, Jan. 4 and Monday, Jan. 5 until time of service.

William Adam Laney, 83, Sevierville, passed away Jan. 3. 

He is preceded in death by parents, William and Loma Laney; and wife, Ruby Lavenia Laney. 

He is survived by: wife, Frances Laney; children, Bill (Frances) Laney, Darlene (Jake) Marr, Dennis (Carol) Laney, Lisa Laney, James (Summer) Long, Rhonda McClain, Donnie Laney, Curtis Laney, David Laney and Adam Laney; and grandchildren, Mandy (Efrain) Hernandez, Adam (Bridget) Laney, Victoria Laney, Joey Laney, Jason Laney, Chris Laney, Ben Santini, C. J. Santini, Arlo Jones, Will Laney, and Maddox Laney. 

Funeral services were Tuesday, January 6th at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Curtis Laney and Bill Spade officiating. Interment followed the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Arlo Jones, Adam Laney, Randy Toombs, Jason Laney, Joey Knuff and C. J. Santini serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer: Chris Knuff. Visitation with the family was Monday, Jan. 5 and Tuesday, Jan. 6 until time of service.

Iva Nell Smith, 94,  Mt. Juliet passed away Dec. 28, 2014. She was born in Cumberland County, Ky. Nov. 30, 1920 to the late C. B. and Minnie Smith. Iva Nell was a member of Beckwith Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by: husband, Glespie Smith; son, Mike Smith; and sisters, Irene Ashley and Mildred McCorkle. Survived by children, Steve (Sherry) Smith, Janie (Ricky) Newman; brother, Charles Hugh Smith; grandchildren, Traci (David) Harris, Wesley Tomlinson, Shawn (Angela) Smith, Brett Smith, Rachel Smith, Ethan Smith, Mika Dyer, Chris Dyer, Amy Dyer, Kyle Newman and Stephanie (Jimmy) Allen; and great-grandchildren, Trey, Rylan, Brynlie, Bexlie, Lucas, Nathan, Jacob and Caleb.

Funeral services by Brother Danny Tomlinson and Brother Ron Stewart were Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Visitation with the family was Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 and prior to the service Tuesday. Burial followed the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Iva Nell’s granddaughters.

James went to take a nap to dream of heaven and woke up there Dec. 8. 

James was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove United  Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet, Tn. and a loyal servant to his Lord. He was a delight to everyone  that knew him. He was kind to everyone and a  joy as he served the community touching the hearts of those he helped. He is survived by sister  “Dolly” Gloria Beery, nephew Shawn Singletary, nieces Summer Singletary, Rachel Talavera and  seven great  nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. A celebration  of life will be held on the date of his birth, Monday Dec. 29, at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Grove  United Methodist Church, 6485 Central Pike,  Mt. Juliet, Tn. 37122. Robert Woodrow Butner, 70, Mt. Juliet, died Dec. 15. 

Robert was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 572. He was the son of the late, Robert Woodrow and Katie Mae Hartman Butner.

He is survived by: wife of 14 years, Judy Butner; children, Chris (Mary) Butner, Casey Blalock and Cliff (Carman) Butner; step-children, Wendi (Rick) Brewer, Elizabeth (Alex) Standridge and Aaron Johnson; brother, Wayne (Barbara) Butner; sister, Cathy Talley; 13 grandchildren.
