Roy Elmer Pierce, Sr., 84, Mt. Juliet, died March 28. 

Pierce was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from Pilot Freight Company with 30 years of service. Mr. Pierce was the son of the late, Otto and Nellie Bryant Pierce. He was also preceded in death by his son, Danny Webb Pierce and his brother, Odis Pierce.

He is survived by: wife of 61 years, Gay Nell Pierce; sons, Roy Pierce, Jr. and James David “J.D.” Pierce; brothers, Willie Pierce, George Pierce and James Pierce; sisters, Mary Velma Craft and Bessie Whittle; grandchildren, Roy Pierce, III and Gina Altman; great-grandchildren, Chloe Pierce, Jasper Pierce, Isaac Lee and Colby Lee; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 31, at Bond Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Hershel Lee Waller, born Sept. 18, 1928, passed away March 26. 

In 1958, he co-founded Lebanon Appliance with David B. Carroll on Market Street across from the old ice plant. Later the business moved to 627 North Cumberland Street, where they were joined by Raymond Manners, who took ownership of the business upon their retirement in 1979. Waller and Carroll were co-owners of the North Cumberland Center with Rev. Bob Evans. He was named to the community council on a rotating basis of Wilson Bank and Trusts. In the late 1970s, Mr. Waller was Santa at the Peoples Bank in Lebanon and in the 1980s, he was Santa at Wilson Bank & Trust. Mr. Waller was a long time member of First Church of the Nazarene in Lebanon and Covenant Fellowship Church of the Nazarene. 

Survivors include: children, Lynne (Jim) Sutton and Lance (Patty) Waller; and three grandsons: Austin (16), Braxton (13) and Corbin (10). Also, one brother: Clifton (Shelby) Waller; sisters-in-law: Frances Ward Waller and Birdie Waller; and several nieces and nephews. 

Waller was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Hesson Waller. Also, parents, Alfred Hershel Waller and Maggie Duke Waller; brothers, Edgar Waller, Frank Waller and Shelton Waller; and sister-in-law, Helen Waller.

Funeral service were Sunday, March 29 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Rev. David Hesson officiating. Interment followed the service at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Bryant Waller, Mark Waller, Steve Waller, Mike Waller, David Waller and Austin Waller serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Ronnie Waller, Braxton Waller and Corbin Waller. Visitation with the family was Saturday, March 28  and Sunday, March 29.

Arthur Gerald Willingham, 76, Mt. Juliet, died March 24. 

Jerry was a member of Mt. Juliet Lodge No. 642 F&AM and the Mt. Juliet Senior Citizen Center. He was the son of the late, Melvin Thurman and Evelyn Ethel White Willingham. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Stuart Willingham and sons, Jeffrey Willingham and Jai Willingham.

He is survived by: daughters, Susan Ledbetter and Jerri Lynn Frazier; brother, James B. Willingham; grandchildren, Brandy (Ryan) Resnick, Brad (Ashley) Ledbetter, London Frazier, Brennan Willingham and Ethan Willingham; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Avery and Landon

Funeral services were Friday, March 27, at Bond Memorial Chapel. A Masonic service followed. The grandchildren served honorary pallbearers.

Loraine F. Carter,  96, passed away Saturday, March 21. 

A Memorial Service was Tuesday, March 24 from the Lebanon First United Methodist Church in Lebanon, with an hour of visitation prior to service time. A Graveside Service was Friday, March 27, at 11 a.m. in the Mobile Memorial Gardens in Mobile, Ala. 

She was born Dec. 12, 1918 in Crenshaw Co., Ala. to the late Ruben Parks Franklin and Lessie Mae Rhodes Franklin. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Carter; sisters, Jewel Franklin, Doris Wallitalo, Marie Boyd; and brother, Ben Franklin. Survivors include daughters, Beverly Babich (Al), Judy Jahrig (Mike); grandchildren, Wade Brunson (Michelle), Todd Tate (Amy), Theresa Zdorov (Roman); brother, Charles Franklin; three nieces; two nephews, and seven great-grandchildren.

Candace Leigh Dedman, 33, Lebanon, died March 23. 

Leigh was a member of Laguardo Baptist Church and was a Registered Nurse at Summit Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James F. Ethridge.

She is survived by: husband of 15 years, Brad Dedman; sons, Will and Blake Dedman; parents, James F. and Karen Ethridge; sister, Chelli (Eric) Mosier; grandparents, Melvin and Kathryn Hammer and Nancy Ethridge; father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Jerry and Carol Dedman; brothers-in-law, Stephen (Liz) Dedman and Jeffrey Dedman; nieces and nephews, Destiny Mosier, Journey Mosier, Maddox Mosier and Eli Dedman.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at First Baptist Church, 735 N. Mt. Juliet Road with Rev. Jonas Taylor, Rev. Carl Price and Rev. Kevin Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Dedman, Stephen Dedman, Eric Mosier, Greg Hammer, Jeff Jammer and Jeff Ethridge.
