Oleks Y. Rudenko, 88, Mt. Juliet, passed away Dec. 30. 

Rudenko was a former Ukrainian citizen taken during WWII who was incarcerated in the German Nazi Concentration Camp, Dachau, as a slave laborer, where he survived for three years prior to coming to America. He spoke five languages, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, German and English. After receiving his PhD, he became a Russian linguist instructor with the 101st Military Intelligence Battalion, US Army, Fort Riley, Kan.

Rudenko was preceded in death by parents, Yevdokym and Yevkokia Rudenko; and brothers, Mykola, Ivan, Vasyl and Mykola Rudenko. He is survived by his wife of 48.5 years, Katherine Rudenko; daughters, Larissa Rudenko (David) Wright and Irina O. Rudenko (Sean McWhortor); grandchildren, Katherine and Jacob Wright and Isabelle, Mason, Bentley and Oakley McWhortor; and several nieces and nephews in Ukraine.

Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 3 at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Road, Nashville, TN 37205. Interment followed the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family was at the church.

Peggy Wampler, 57, Antioch, passed away Jan. 1. 

She is preceded in death by: parents, Marvin and Bessie Meade; husband, Tony Allen Wampler; and brother, Mitchell Meade. 

She is survived by: son, Joshua Allen Wampler; brothers, Marvin D. (Donna) Meade and G. W. (Patti) Meade; sisters, Connie (Frank) Wampler and Carrie (Butch) Blair; grandchildren, Ashley Wampler, Emily Wampler, Joshua Wampler, Jr., Aliviya Jordan and Monica Jordan; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Memorial service was Saturday, Jan. 4 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Darrell Duncan officiating and Bro. Andy Connelly assisting. Visitation with the family was Friday, Jan. 3 and prior to the service on Saturday, Jan. 4. 

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Center Chapel church of Christ for all of the support received during Peggy’s illness.

Doug Graves, 47, Mt. Juliet died Dec. 18. 

He is survived by” wife, Lori Carver Graves; daughters, Nicole, Olivia and Sara Graves; parents, Ted and Debbie Graves and Doris and Danny Crawford. 

Services were Friday, Dec. 20 at Hermitage Funeral Home with Bro. August Ruff officiating. Interment to be held at Hermitage Memorial Gardens, with Shannon Irwin, Jon Fudge, Tim Watkins, Billy Watkins, Jay Woodard, Joe Pharr, Randy Moore and Randy Reeder as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Thursday and Friday.

Norman Ewell Hagar, 57, Nashville, died Tuesday, Dec. 24. 

Hagar was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Shane Hagar; parents, Ewell and Viola Earheart Hagar and sisters, Evelyn White and Dorothy Winfree. 

He is survived by: wife of 36 years, Rayma Hagar; daughter, Christina (Joe) Ringen; brothers, Harold (Rebecca) Hagar and Richard (Joyce) Hagar; sister-in-law, Marita Wolf; good friend, Lee Smith; several nieces and nephews

Visitation was Friday, Dec. 27 at Bond Memorial Chapel.

Olive Adams Hanson, Mt. Juliet, 91, passed away Dec. 22. 

Olive was a member of Cooks United Methodist Church. She worked at Dupont and retired after over 40 years. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Hanson. 

She is survived by: daughter, Karin Graves; sons, Kenneth Hanson and Steve Wasserburger; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

A funeral service was Friday, Dec. 27 at the Hermitage Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Hanson officiating. Burial followed at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family was Thursday and prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
