Bob Farler, 78, Mt. Juliet, died March 19, 2015. Mr. Farler was the former owner of Bob’s Heating and Air Conditioning. He loved NASCAR, fishing, family and friends. Mr. Farler was the son of the late, Charlie Donald and Alma Lorene Hainline Farler. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie Donald Farler, Jr. and Bailey Edward Farler. 

He is survived by: wife of 61 years, Faylene “Nan” Farler; children, Rhonda (Randy) Cane, Buddy (Antoinette Olesen) Farler, Rita Jones and Glenda (Terry) Gray; brothers, Wayne Farler and Gary Farler; sisters, Faye Hatfield and Carol Duke; grandchildren, Tommy (Ashley) Donnelly, Justin (Santana) Donnelly, Kristen Jones, Jake (Jessica) Gray, Logan Gray, Alex Gray and Anna Farler; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 24, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 404 BNA Drive, Suite 102, Nashville, TN 37217.

John Carl Seeger, 90, Mt. Juliet, and formerly of Mettawa, Ill., died March 19. 

Seeger was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Mr. Seeger was a member of the Del Webb Lake Providence Veterans Club and the Tyler Cates American Legion Post No. 281. He was an Eagle Scout and a supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. Seeger was the son of the late, John Carl Seeger, Sr. and Martha Helen Brennecke Seeger. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anita Hawkins Seeger; son, John Seeger and daughter, Catherine Ann Seeger. 

He is survived by: daughter, Helen (Del) Mackie; grandchildren, Kristen Mackie (Brian) Mahler and Katie Mackie (Justin) Banaszynski; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Elizabeth Mahler, Jake Matthew Mahler and Brandon James Mahler.

Funeral services with military honors were Saturday, March 28, at the Clubhouse at Del Webb with Pastor Jacob Armstrong officiating. Visitation was prior to service time. John Tramel, of Springfield, passed away March 10, at age 81.  The Memorial Service was Saturday, March 21, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home.

Tramel is survived by: wife, Betty Sue Tramel; children, Barbara Darlene (John) Pruitt, Mary Gail Tramel Elam, and Evelyn Ann Tramel; sister, Mary Wilson; grandchildren, Lorenia Marie Seiber, Daniel Newberry, Melissa Ann Pedigo, Alisha Lynn Tramel, Shirley Kennedy and Amanda Pruitt; and numerous great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughter Deloris Faye Tramel, parents Edgar and Beulah Tramel, and sister Nellie Mae Kemp.

Myrna Saylor Alfich, 55, Mt. Juliet passed away March 12. 

Preceded in death by grandfather, Orville Garrett; grandmother, Betty Klein; great-grandmother, Sarah Cox; brother, Kenny Saylor. Survived by parents, Palmer and Linda Smith; children, Nick Alfich, Melanie Alfich and Christina Alagna; brother, Buddy Saylor; sister, Wendy (Todd) Hudson; nieces, Linda (Jason) Pawlik and Christy (Shawn) Combs; nephews, Brandon Saylor and Buddy Saylor, Jr.; great-nieces, Keira Pawlik and Sarah Combs; great-nephews, Brant Pawlik and Preston Saylor; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Charles Monty Pope was born June 19, 1943 in Old Hickory, son of the late John Felton and Mary Jo Hayse Pope. He passed away peacefully, March 11 at home in Lebanon, surrounded by his loving family. 

He is survived by: wife of 44 years, Patricia Holman Pope; sons John (Traci Thorne) and Spencer (Kristi Carter); grandchildren Kennedy, Garret, Carter, Caroline and Tanner; sister Brenda Pope, and brother-in-law, Cliff (Jan) Holman.

Monty’s great loves were his family, his friends, and teaching children and young adults. He graduated from UT-Knoxville, receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees. He taught at Antioch High School and was an original member of the faculty at Apollo Middle School, where he twice received teacher of the year; retiring after 27 years. Monty was a long time member of the Andrew Jackson Foundation and of the Tennessee Historical Society.

Teaching young minds to love history (and especially Andrew Jackson) at Cumberland University for 21 years brought him many honors there, including Most Outstanding Faculty Member and the Presidents Teacher Excellence Award.

Monty was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, Theta Prime chapter, and also served as chapter sponsor. He was the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society Faculty Sponsor and a dedicated supporter of the Cumberland University wrestling.

Monty’s kindness,  warmth, humor, and wide breath of knowledge has touched many , and will be remembered as his legacy.

Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, March 21  from 4-7 p.m., at Epiphany Episcopal Church, 1500 Hickory Ridge Rd., Lebanon. A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 22, 3:30 p.m., at Baird Chapel in the Memorial Hall, Cumberland University campus, where a visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. with a reception following the service. Mother Kira Schlesinger will officiate the service.
