Roy Fay Counce, 70, Mt. Juliet, was born May 10 and called home to his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Aug. 6.
Counce began this life in rural Counce in Hardin County where he always held a special place in his heart as “home”. He grew up in Gallatin, where his family relocated. He valiantly and courageously served his country and fellow Marines as a crew chief on a UH-34D helicopter over the skies of Vietnam. He was a proud United States Marine. He was a longtime resident of Mt. Juliet where he raised his family. He made a career as a roadbuilder and later worked in printing. A strong man able to accomplish many things, with a special knack for anything mechanical, “Rapid Roy” spent his retirement years repairing lawnmowers for many customers that he loved to help and talk with. He was a man of witty sayings who loved his family and many, many friends greatly. He enjoyed crappie fishing, golf, stock cars, good homegrown tomatoes, and sharing his experiences with others. Counce was preceded in death by his parents, Kinnie A. and Linda Counce; his beautiful sister, Carolyn Counce Kiber, and a dear brother-in-law, Homer R. Gray.
