Frieda Smith, 74, Lebanon, passed away Nov. 29. 

She was a member of Smith Springs Baptist Church. Smith was preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Nellie Wright; sister, Burma Wright; and brother, Milton Wright. 

She is survived by:  husband of 55 years, Raybon Smith; sons, Del (Julie) Smith and Wade Smith; daughter, Vicky (David) Edging; sister, Dorothy Elkins; brother, Milo (Deborah) Wright; grandchildren, Robert Spears, Brandon Spears, Joseph Spears, Ashley (Chris) Shepherd, Jesse Smith, Robert Del Smith and Devin Smith; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Kevin Butler officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Tuesday, Dec. 2 and prior to the service on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff in ICU at University Medical Center.

Cole Walters, 3.5 months, Mt. Juliet, died Nov. 25. 

He is survived by: parents, Scott and Emily Walters; siblings, Daisy, John Price and Annalyn; grandparents, Peter and Cindy Patton and Larry and Kelly Walters; great-grandparents, Don and Carolyn Perry, Dewey and Annabelle Patton and Olga Walters; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 29, at Bond Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Private.

Herman Edward Carter, Jr., 81, Mt. Juliet, died Nov. 19. 

Carter accepted Christ as a young adult at Evans Hill Baptist Church. He was a mechanic and an avid hunter and fisherman. Carter was the son of the late, Herman Franklin Carter and Eddie Gilliam Majors. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Lynn Carter; son, David Hayes and brothers, James F. Carter, Bobby Joe Carter, Charles Majors and Earl Majors. 

He is survived by: wife, Lilia Sowell Carter; children, Gail Carter Demonbreun, Denise (James) Hambrick,  Larry (Yon) Carter, Garry (Candy) Carter, David Carter, James Carter, Michael Carter and Maurice Jennings; brother, Marlon Jesse Carter; aunt, Mai Nell Craigwell; brothers-in-law, William Sowell and Murray (Doris) Sowell; sisters–in-law, Judy Sowell and Doris Sowell; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 22 at Grace Fellowship Ministries at Abundant Life Church, 1000 Woodridge Place, Mt. Juliet, TN with eulogist, Dr. James Hambrick and Rev. Tim Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Evans Hill Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and nieces will serve as flower bearers.

Bennie Ray Wood, a veteran of WWII and a retired Cumberland Presbyterian Minister, 90 years of age, died  Nov. 18 at The Gardens at Providence Place, Mt. Juliet.

Services are Nov. 21 at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan with burial in Gibson County Memory Gardens.

Rev. Wood was born April 22, 1924. He was inducted into the U. S. Army in 1943, served in the Central Burma and the India Burma Campaigns and was honorably discharged on Jan. 16, 1946.  He later attended Bethel College in McKenzie, Tn. and graduated in 1951. In March of 1951 he became an ordained Minister in the Hopewell Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and he received his Master of Divinity from the Memphis Theological Seminary in 1963. Upon his retirement in 1989 he and his wife took residency in Mt. Juliet, Tn.

He was preceded in death by his parents Rolan E. and Bessie L. Wood, his wife of fifty nine years, Margie Ruth Robley Wood, his son Stephen Ray Wood, his sister Ann B. Lawrence, his two brothers Bernice E. Wood and Robert L. Wood.

Surviving are his daughter Rebecca Ruth Roberts of Mt. Juliet, his sons Timothy A. Wood of Nashville, David L. Wood of Mt. Juliet and Philip L. Wood of Murfreesboro, his grandsons Benjamin O. Roberts of Nashville and Nicholas A. Roberts of Logan, Utah, his great granddaughter Elina M. Roberts of Logan, Utah, his twin sister Hettie Mae Moss and his younger sister Dorothy S. Perry, both of Jackson.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Geraldine Lois Llewelyn Webb, 82, Gordonsville, died Nov. 15. 

Webb was a member of Brush Creek Church of Christ. She was the daughter of the late, David Thomas and Ida Averett Llewelyn. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James William “Bo” Webb and her brother, Robert Llewelyn.

She is survived by: children, Sherie Cook, Debra Bremer, Ronald (Diane) Arnold, Kenny (Dianne) Webb, Kathy (Tony) Towns and Regina (Butch) Cole; 25 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildrenand two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Glenn B. Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Christopher Webb, Chad Parchman, Joe Knuff, Andrew Crosslin, Patrick Bradford, Peyton Bradford, Austin Crosslin, and Jason Crosslin. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Parchman and Elijah Crosslin.
