Cameron Blake Parnell PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, May 13, 2014

“Love is a fabric which never fades, no matter how often it is washed in the water of adversity and grief.”—Anonymous

Our precious Cameron Blake Parnell (31) died on Monday, April 28, 2014 in a hiking accident in Crater Lake National Park, Oregon.

Cameron was our rock—an adventurer, professional pilot, nature-lover, and world traveler—he was man with a deep wonder and passion for life. Cameron was a loyal and protective friend with a smile that would light up every room he entered. A stranger to none, Cameron’s laugh was infectious and rowdy, just like his personality. But, there was also a sweetness in Cam that his loved ones knew well; none more so than the love of his life, Sheena Girner, his mom and dad, Gaye and Scott Parnell, his little brother Quintin, and his big brothers, Scott Jr. and Chris, and his faithful dog, Waylon. Cameron was a beloved son, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, teammate, and friend.

Cameron “The Claw” was an avid rugby player with the Moosemen at Middle Tennessee State University, where he graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Administration and a minor in Criminal Justice. Cameron flew for O’Hara Flying Services.

Cameron’s favorite bible verse was Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” We cling to that verse now as we say a too-soon farewell to a rare treasure. Hook ‘em.

A memorial service will be held for Cameron at Lebanon Municipal Airport (760 Franklin Road Lebanon, TN 37087) on Saturday, May 17th at 10am. Attire is casual.

There will also be a celebration of Cameron’s life that evening at 7pm at Windtree Golf Club (810 Nonaville Rd, Mt Juliet.)

If you’d like to make a donation in Cameron’s name, you may send it to either: (search under “Cameron Parnell”) — a fundraiser set up by his rugby brothers, for the Cameron Parnell Scholarship Fund, which assists fellow players under financial hardship with college expenses.
