Helen Robinson Van Nook, 81, Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 20. 

Van Hook was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was the daughter of the late, Eugene and Ruby Bale Robinson. Van Hook was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Eugene Van Hook and her sisters, Emma Jean (Billy) Whitson and Sadie Murray.

She is survived by: daughter, Karen (Eddie) Hale; granddaughters, Vada (Jeff) Brown and Paula (Kenneth) Vaughn great-granddaughter, Kristianna Brown; brothers-in-law, Alvin (Jean) Van Hook and Bobby Murray; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with Don Humphrey officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund, 410 Allied Drive, Nashville, TN 37211.

Lady Alice Jones McCulloch, 87, Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 10. 

McCulloch was a member of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was retired from the Bank of Mt. Juliet. Mrs. McCulloch was the daughter of the late, Guy Dowdy and Delia Lucile Fox Jones. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jere McCulloch.

She is survived by: husband of nearly 70 years, Forrest “Nabe” McCulloch; sons, Guy (Ann) McCulloch and Dale (Mary) McCulloch; brothers, Robert A. (Ann) Jones and Guy C. (Janice) Jones; sister, Evelyn Force; grandchildren, Matt McCulloch, Jenny (Dustin) Judy, Kelly McCulloch, Laura (Paul) Bass, Alice (Andrew) Wall and Jimmy (Kelly) McCulloch; six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 14 at Bond Memorial Chapel with David Shannon officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Matt McCulloch, Jimmy McCulloch, Andrew Wall, Dustin Judy, Lynn McCulloch, Termite McCulloch, P.D. McCulloch and Stan Force. Donald Dean Wharton, Sr., 89, Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 13. 

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Donald began his career as an aviator upon entering military service during WWII, serving as an Air Force pilot in the Philippines and post war in Germany. After 23 years of service, he retired with the rank of Major. He then flew throughout Southeast Asia for eight years as a pilot for Air America, Inc. Donald was then employed for ten years by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as an instructor pilot for the Saudi Arabian Air Force. His career afforded the opportunity for him and his beloved wife to travel extensively throughout the world, living in several states and four foreign countries. After completing his working career, he served for several years as an active member of the Gideon’s International, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and an active church member of Life Assembly in Mt. Juliet. Wharton was the son of the late, Dave and Berta Goodrum Wharton. He was also preceded in death by his son, Bill Wharton and sisters, Edith Jolly and Jo Marie Gordon.

He is survived by: beloved wife of 69 years, Jessie Ava Nell Wharton; son, Don (Anita) Wharton, Jr.; daughter, Debbie (Fred) Clark; brother, David (Roma) Wharton; daughter-in-law, Sandi Wharton; brothers-in-law, Don (Pat) Reid and Don (Pat) Jolly; grandchildren, Zack (Jane) Clark, Beverly (Paul) Jackson, Trina (Josh) Hildabrand, Angela (Dan) Linz, Nikki Wharton, Natalie (Adam) Brown and Jessie Wharton; 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Andrew Wharton officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. at Middle TN Veterans Cemetery.

Richard Blake Williams, 23, Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 2, in Costa Mesa, Calif. from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Blake participated in youth baseball, basketball and football and was a member of the Mid-Cumberland Young Marines. He was a 2009 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School where he played football. After graduation, Blake attended Vol State and Tennessee Tech. He formerly attended Hermitage Church of the Nazarene. Blake was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Albert Holland.

He is survived by: mother, Pam (Steve) Peigh; father, Marty Williams; step-brother, Chad Peigh; maternal grandmother, Virginia (Paul) Robinson; paternal grandparents, Doug and Inez Williams; aunts and uncles, Janice (Tommy) Poole, George (Jeri) Holland, Richard (Stephanie) Holland, Jacquelyn (Kelvin) Norman, Timothy (Sherri) Holland and Tracy (Angie) Williams; cousins, Karen (Jay) Baker, Jamie (Holli) Holland, Joey Williams, Justin Williams, Kelly Williams Gasco, John Thomas Baker, Jacob Baker and Makenzie Baker; and a countless number of friends in Tennessee and California.

Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 12, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Chuck Seay officiating. Interment followed at Spring Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joseph Williams, Justin Williams, Chad Peigh, Danny Valencic, Travis Spicer and Slade Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Williams, Richard Holland, Tim Holland and George Holland.

Mary T. Bunish, 77, of Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 1 at Mt. Juliet Healthcare after an extended illness. Mary was born Nov. 24, 1936 in Windsor Heights, WV. She retired from McDermott International  Sept. 1, 1979 as executive secretary to the company president. Mary was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Community and the KCLA in Old Hickory. She was also a member of the Mt. Juliet Senior Center where she was an active fundraiser. Her passions were crafts, including sewing and quilting and world-wide travel. Mary was the daughter of the late, Matthew A. and Anna Plinta Galich. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Matthew J. Galich.

She is survived by: husband, John Bunish; sister-in-law, Joan Galich of Adena, Ohio; nephews, John Stach of Canal Fulton, Ohio, Mark Galich of Pickerington, Ohio and Matt Galich of Steubenville, Ohio; nieces, MaLinda Wierzbicki of Powell, Ohio, Stephanie Fuller of Beaver, Pa., Christine Bunish of Cedar Grove, NJ and Kathi Frauman of Huber Heights, Ohio; close friends, Judi Fererro, Gloria Maphet and Virginia Trimbach, all of Mt. Juliet.

Services were Saturday, Sept. 6, at Bond Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, Ohio.
