Jean McRae Burdine, 87, Old Hickory, died March 3. 

Burdine was a faithful member of Hermitage United Methodist Church and the Ballinger Sunday School Class. She was a 1944 graduate of Isaac Litton High School. After graduation she was employed as a programmer for National Life Insurance Company. She retired in 1965 and became a mother and homemaker and began her journey assisting her husband in creating and operating the family wholesale plumbing and electrical supply business. Mrs. Burdine was the daughter of the late, Thomas Kenneth and Sallie Hall McRae. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille (George) Bryan, Helen McRae and Grace (Leonard) Staggs. She enjoyed spending time loving her entire family, especially her three granddaughters. She always had a smile to share with everyone she met.

She is survived by: husband of 50 years, Robert Dean Burdine; daughter, Sallie (James) Dye; granddaughters, Elizabeth Dye, Julianna Dye and Caroline Dye.

Funeral services were Friday, March 7 at Hermitage United Methodist Church, 205 Belinda Pkwy., Hermitage, TN with Rev. Gary Speich officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens.

Lafayette Nelson Kennedy, 82, Mt. Juliet, died peacefully at home on the morning of March 4, after a long life well lived. 

Kennedy was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Juliet. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. Kennedy was retired from both IBM and Eastman Kodak. His passions were traveling, reading, fishing and his grandchildren.

He is survived by: wife of 61 years, Helen Williamson Kennedy; children, Frieda Kennedy, Jackie (Tony) Price and Robert Kennedy; grandchildren, Lily Price, R.J. Price and Sebastian Kennedy.

Many nieces and nephews, extended family members, friends and church family members.

Funeral services will be conducted 6 p.m. Friday, March 7 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Alan Herd officiating. Graveside services with military honors were Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Benefield Cemetery in Fairview, Miss.

Bobby Charles McCrary, 80, Mt. Juliet, died March 7. Bobby was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Dependables Sunday School Class. He was the son of the late, Bob and Mrystis Murphy McCrary. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Pearl McCrary and his brothers, Otho and H.B. McCrary.

He is survived by: son, Bobby “Toby” (Bonnie) McCrary, Jr.; daughters, Jill (Mike) Eady, Bonnie (Terry) Agee and Becky (Shad) Carnes; Ma, Kathryne McCrary; sister, Brenda Jones; grandchildren, Troy Morris, Keith (Netrean) Morris, Brandy (Richard) Syler, Michael (Gwen) Eady, Bryan (Laura) Eady, Kisha (Curt) Gallagher, Pricilla (John) McVoy, Melissa (Rick) Johnson, Kendall (Lee) Watson, Renee (Kyle) Oakley, Amanda (Daniel) Reed, Rachel (Jacob) Belcher, Matthew Comer, Mary Ann (Ethan) Watson and McKenzie Comer; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bobby Goode and Bro. Howard Kidder officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Preston Eady, Troy Morris, Keith Morris, Matthew Comer, Kyle Oakley and Josh Odom. Honorary pallbearers will be Toby Thibeault, Noel Reese, Eddie McCrary and Harry Jackson.

Scott Taylor Powell, 56, Mt. Juliet, lost his battle with cancer on March 6. 

Scott was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.  Scott was dedicated to always being proud of a job well done, both at work and with his much loved family. He was a man many aspired to emulate, and will be greatly missed by all. Scott was the son of the late, John Thomas Powell and Dorothy Marie Moran.

He is survived by: loving wife, Lynn Powell; children, Steven (Julie) Powell, Danielle (Kevin) Green, Michelle (Craig) Huntley, Jamie (Angela) Withrow and Max the Worthless Dog; siblings, John (Debra) Powell, Charles (Steven Zorn) Powell, Darrell (Mary) Powell and Lynn Powell (Bill) Toy; grandchildren, Jonathon Guty, Gracie Jo Powell, June Green, Jaxon Taylor Powell and Noah Green; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Funeral services were. Saturday, March 8 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Jerry Brown officiating.

Gary Lamar Deaton, 74, Mt. Juliet died Feb. 25. 

Deaton was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet and had served in the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was the son of the late, Johnnie Leo Deaton, Sr. and Lessie Mae Richardson Deaton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie Leo Deaton, Jr. and sister, Jane Usery.

He is survived by: wife, Amy House Deaton; daughters, DeAnna Frances (Frank) Casteel and Gary Ann (Kerry) Beason; brother, Donald Ray “Bo” (Gaye) Deaton; sisters, Virginia Wilson, Joan (Bill) Holder and Angelyn Golmon; grandchildren, Nicholas Beason, Savannah Beason and Sophie Beason; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Gwen Phillips and her family; brother-in-law, Andy House and his family. 

Funeral services were. Saturday, March 1, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Billie Friel officiating. Graveside services were Sunday, March 2 at Cagel Cemetery in Deanburg. Active pallbearers were Kerry Beason, Frank Casteel, Andy House, Harold Phillips, Nick Beason and Keith Deaton. Honorary pallbearers were Bo Deaton, Bob Bull, James Laster, Jim Eaton, Lester Smith, Jr., Bill Young, Judd Hayes, Harold McDowell, Morris Adcock, The Pastor’s Sunday School Class and the Bob Bull Sunday School Class.
