Thomas Evans Morris, 89, Mt. Juliet, died Wednesday, April 24. 

Morris was raised in the Lutheran Orphans’ Home in Oregon, Ohio and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He and his wife owned Morris’ Red and White Store in Alvordton, Ohio. Mr. Morris was employed by General Mill from 1954 until his retirement in 1984. He was preceded in death by his children, Karen Swan and Jon Morris.

He is survived by: wife of 66 years – Ethel Meyer Morris; daughters, Sharon (Ray) Morris and Debra (Keith) Gray; grandchildren, Tom Sheperd, Todd Shupp, Josh Goodrich and Von Doran; great-grandchildren, Brock, Tara, Cody, Trevor, Valerie, Alyssa, Malayna, Denver and Alice

Funeral services were Monday, April 29 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rob Simms officiating.

Ernest Thomas Rice, born March 29, 1931; passed away April 25.

Rice was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. “Old Soldiers never die, they just fade away” as did he, God now has him in His bosom.  Answering the call of his country, Mr. Rice was a veteran of the U.S. Army, answering the call of his country and was a paratrooper and infantry soldier spending months on Heartbreak Ridge during some of the most vicious fighting in the Korean War. He was the eighth of nine children born to the late, Hooper and Mary Hunter Rice. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Edward, Earl, Vivon, William “Bill” and Margaret Elizabeth. Mr. Rice was a family historian, a life-long Bible student and a gentle, sweet brother. 

He is survived by: sisters, Mary Lou Frazer and Dixie Tanksley; brother, Gordon Ramon Rice; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday, April 29 at Bond Memorial Chapel with David Shannon officiating. Interment with military honors followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were Don Rice, Jimmy Rice, William H. “Buzzy” Rice, Roy Tanksley, Jr., Josh Rice, Jordan Rice and Justin Rice. Honorary pallbearers were Elders and Deacons of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ and Bill Cox.

Lela Mae Robertson, 83, Mt. Juliet, died Monday, April 22. 

Robertson was a member of the Baptist faith. She was a graduate of California State University at Northridge and was employed as an educator for over 20 years. Mrs. Robertson was the daughter of the late, John D. and Dorothy Creekmur French.

She is survived by: husband of 63 years, Joe Robertson; daughters, JoAnne (Bill) Patterson and Jan (Steve) Vercelli; granddaughter, Karolyn Patterson; great-granddaughter, Peyton Patterson.

Graveside services were Friday, April 26 at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. 

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Mary Vivian Stahl,  89, Mt. Juliet, died Monday, April 22. 

Stahl attended First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. She was the daughter of the late, George and Mary Bybee Simmons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Stahl. 

She is survived by:daughters, Yvieta (James) Ulmer and Marietta Stahl; brother, Wayne Simmons; sister, Christine Norman; brother-in-law, Allen (Mildred) Stahl; grandchildren, Josh (Amber) Ulmer, Rachel (Alex) Major, Kendra (Nate) Uhl, David Vera, Crista Vera and Valerie Vera; great-grandchildren, Josie Ulmer and Reuben Ulmer; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 27 in Syracuse, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet or Alive Hospice.

Donald Gray Dale, 67,  Nashville, died Sunday, April 21. 

Dale was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a long-time employee of Mid-South Marine. He was an avid golfer and a part-time employee of Shelby Golf Course and Avis Car Rental. He was also an Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Dale was the son of the late, Billy Gray and Jean Elizabeth Elrod Dale. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Doris Brenda Carlton Dale. 

He is survived by:daughters, Tiffany L. (Dawn) Dale and Tammy (Jeff) Mounts; sisters, Diane (Dave) Ludwig, Marsha Lee and Kimberly (Ray) Johnson; brother, Terry Dale; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at Andrew Price Memorial United Methodist Church, 2846 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN with Melisa Derseweh officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and associates at Shelby Golf Course. 

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Tennessee Golf Foundation, 400 Franklin Road, Franklin, TN 37069.

Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time Thursday at the church.
