Nicholas Arthur Mackey, 27, Antioch passed away April 26. 

He is survived by son, Eli Jeremiah Mackey; mother, China C. Mackey; father, Jack R. (Leslie J.) Mackey; stepbrother, Brandon A. Repath; stepsister, Jessi N. Repath; brother, Shane Mackey; grandmother, Gisele Mackey; grandfather, Howard Mackey; aunts, Christine Leurs and Colleen Mahoney; uncles, William Mackey, Johnny Malik and John Wilmore; and cousins, Joe Leurs, Jeffrey Leurs, Andrea Leurs, Rhiannon Hunsberger, Daniel Wilmore, Robert Wilmore and Johnny Wilmore.

Funeral services were Friday, May 2 at Smith Springs Church of Christ. Visitation with the family at Smith Springs Church of Christ was Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2.

Ruth Ball Reed, 89, Mt. Juliet, died May 5. 

Reed was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet where she taught Bible Drill and was a member of WMU. She had been principal of Flat Rock Elementary School and was one of the original kindergarten teachers at Mt. Juliet Christian Academy. Reed was the daughter of the late, Buford Monroe and Myrtle Nancy Williams Bull. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Reed, Jr. and her brother, T.C. Bull.

She is survived by: son, Daniel (Diane) Reed; daughter, Nancy (David) Gares; brother, Robert “Bob” (Jane) Bull; grandchildren, Hypatia (Matt) Steed, Nicholai Reed, Christopher Gares, and Kelsey Gares; great-grandchildren, Harper Reed and Rosalyn Steed; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Billie Friel officiating. Interment will follow at Barton Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jerry Allen Sturgill, 67, Lebanon, passed away quietly May 3, surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with heart disease.

Jerry made friends easily and was well-liked by all who knew him and by whom he will be missed. He resided in Nashville/Lebanon area for the last years of his life. He was employed as a locksmith prior to his retirement. Jerry loved music and was an occasional songwriter. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was diligently cared for by the staffs at the VA facilities in Nashville and Murfreesboro. Jerry was the son of the late, King Sturgill, Jr. and Agnes B. Sturgill of Bristol, TN.

He is survived by: children, Kim Christopher of Savannah, Ga.; John Sturgill of Erie, Pa.;                Michael Sturgill of Shepherd Town, WV; Cynthia “Cindy” Sturgill of Bristol, Va.; Donovan Sturgill of Johnson City; Christy Buck of Nashville; siblings, Ray Sturgill of Shelby, NC; Bobby Sturgill of Knoxville; Mary Ann Sturgill of Bristol; Karen Gaye Phillippi of Bristol; Judy Sturgill-Morris of Bristol; Gary Sturgill of Nashville;several grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Boomer. 

Funeral services will be conducted 6 p.m. Friday, May 9 at Bond Memorial Chapel to celebrate Jerry’s life and share fond memories of his wit and humor. Graveside services will be conducted 1:45 p.m. EST Monday, May 12, at Mt. Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN.

In lieu of flowers, Jerry asked that memorials be made to New Leash on Life, an animal welfare organization, 511 W. Baddour Pkwy., Lebanon, TN 37087.

Timothy Edwin Thompson, 54, Mt. Juliet, died April 30.

Tim was a member of Friendship Community Church. He was a graduate of Greenville Technical College and was employed as a Senior Network Engineer at Education Networks of America. Tim was an accomplished musician and an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edwin and Doris Medlock Thompson.

He is survived by: wife, Deborah Roberts; children, Andrew (Amanda) Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Torri Thompson, Kyle Roberts and Brittany Roberts; beloved granddaughter, Julianna Thompson.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 3 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Pastor Todd Stevens officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Kyle Roberts, Richard Roberts, Luke Roberts, Jay Chandler, Bobby Jones Inman and Mike Norris.

Regina May Perry Bruce, 84, born Dec. 31, 1929, went to be with the Lord, April 21. 

She was preceded in death by: brother, J.R. (Bubba) Perry, Claude Perry and granddaughter, Kelly Lynn Raines. 

She is survived by: loving husband of 70 years, Jesse Ray Bruce; daughters, Ann (Doug) Raines and Judy (Mackey) Bentley; sons, Ray (Roseanne) Bruce and Perry (Carol) Bruce; sister, Genevieve (Howard) Floyd; 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. 

Regina was a longtime member of Maple Hill Church of Christ. She retired as a LPN from Clover Bottom Developmental Center. Services were Friday, April 25 at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Gary Thorne officiating. Interment followed at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation with family was Thursday, April 24 at Hermitage Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to Sherry’s Run in Regina’s honor. Hermitage Funeral Home (615)889-0361.
