James J.W. Jones, 66, Mt. Juliet, passed away April 6. 

Jones was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Estelle Jones. 

He is survived by: wife of 39 years, Norma Jones; children, Kyle (Marti) Stacy, Josh (Rachael) Hall, DeeDee (Troy) Bright, James Burlison and Sierra Burlison; sisters, Elaine Burnett, Barbara (Herbert) Sanders and Ellen (Daryl) Moore; brothers, Dexter (Patti) Jones and Wesley (Melodie) Jones; and grandchildren, Lara Stacy, Alli Stacy, Bella Hall, Jonathan Stacy, Myla Alsup and Sophie Hall.

Jeffrey Majors, 48, passed away April 2, at UMC.

Survivors include: wife, Demetria Majors; children, Jeffrey T., and Douglas J. Majors; father, Eugene (Ivy) Majors; grandfather, Wilson Cockrill; sister, Paula (Rubin) Collick; brothers, Larry (Vivian) Word, Kerry and Harry Majors; mother-in-law, Betty Douglas; three grandchildren; a myriad of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Majors was open for public viewing Monday April 7 at J.C. Hellum Funeral Chapel. Tuesday he was  lie-in-state, family visitation with funeral  following at Victory Baptist Church, 1777 Tate Lane, Mt. Juliet, TN, Pastor Anthony Dobson, eulogist. Interment Mt. Ararat Cemetery.

Sandra Jane Malone, 65, Lebanon, died April 6. 

Malone was a member of Laguardo Baptist Church where she served as a teacher and on many committees. She was a teacher for 30 years at Cole Elementary School having taught approximately a thousand second and third grade children over her career. Malone was an animal lover and a huge UT fan. She was a season ticket holder since 1984, missing only three home games in 23 years. Mrs. Malone was the daughter of the late, Will Davis and Martha Duff Adkerson. She was also preceded in death by her aunt, Mary Duff; great-nephew, Andrew Chase Dismukes and father-in-law, William T. Malone.

She is survived by: husband of 40 years, Troy Malone; sister, Susan (Bo) Dismukes; nephews, Matt Dismukes and Bart (Melissa) Dismukes; mother-in-law, Veda Malone; sister-in-law, Lynn Cox; brothers-in-law, Howard (Melanie) Malone and James (Kitty) Malone

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Thompson and Rev. Kevin Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bo Dismukes, Matt Dismukes, Bart Dismukes, Howard Malone, James Malone and Conway Stockton. Honorary pallbearers will be staff and faculty of Cole Elementary School from 1970-2000. 

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Laguardo Baptist Church or the Humane Shelter of your choice.

Thomas Amos, 70, Mt. Juliet passed away March 27. 

Memorial service for Amos was Monday, March 31 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Pastor Susan Badley officiating. Visitation with the family was Sunday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31 until time of service.

Amos was preceded in death by parents, William and Melvina Amos; grandsons, Benjamin Michael James Smith; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by wife of 30 years, Patricia “Patsy” Amos; children, James (Kathy) Cole, Penny (Leo) LaRose, Peggy (Michael) Smith, Tammy Chalk, Renee (Doug) Hardy and Sandra (Bill) Daugherty; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Lynn R. Cook, passed away March 21, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

If a man’s life can be measured in units of joy, Lynn Cook’s name would surely be on the leader board. Born in Rockwood on Jan. 28, 1947, Lynn attended Crossville High School and graduated from MTSU with a double major in biology and partying. Lynn had a long and varied career in Health Care Administration starting in 1974 with the Department of Health for the State of Tennessee. He worked as a physician recruiter, hospital developer, and a group practice manager throughout his career. Lynn’s life and career took him from Tennessee to Kentucky, Texas and finally Colorado where he retired in 2009.

Lynn is survived by: wife, Liz Cook of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter Jordan Cook of London, England; grandchildren, Finn and Hayden Campbell of London, England; siblings, JC Cook of Crossville, Donna Yates of Crossville and           Ann McCulloch of Mt. Juliet.

Funeral services were Saturday, March 29, at Bond Memorial Chapel with visitation until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for reclamation of Lynn’s favorite hiking trail, Waldo Canyon, by calling (719)389-1251 and indicating your donation is in memory of Lynn Cook. 

A Celebration of Lynn’s life and a Memorial hike will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18 at the Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs, Colo.
