Dorothy Jean Hocker,  90, Mt. Juliet, passed away Nov. 13. 

Dorothy was born in Harrisburg, Penn. where she grew up and eventually married George, the love of her life.  They were married for 66 years until his passing in 2008.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was loved and will be missed dearly by her family.  

She was preceded in death by: husband, George Hocker, Sr.; parents, Robert and Florence Sellers; and son, George Hocker, Jr. 

She is survived by: son, Terry (Kathy) Hocker; daughters, Kathy (Vic) Chester and Jill (Don) Herring; daughter-in-law, Jan Hocker; grandchildren, Staci (Mark) Gregory, Terry (Teena) Hocker, Sonya (Michael) Knight, Tanner Herring, Gray Smith, Shannon (Laci) Chester, and Dustin Chester;  and great-grandchildren, Grant and Lilli Chester, Ethan and Makenna Gregory, Summer and Hannah Knight, and Tyler, Zachary and Emma Hocker.

 The family wishes to thank Vickie Desimone, Danette Bailey, Coleen Atkinson, Cindy Fogle and Alive Hospice. 

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 16 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Bill Wolfenbarger officiating. Interment followed the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family was Saturday, Nov. 16 from until time of service.

Edwin Bradley Hurd,  63, Mt. Juliet, died Thursday, Nov. 14.  

Hurd was a member of Hermitage Hills Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by First Tennessee Bank in Memphis and Envoy Corporation in communications in Nashville. Hurd was presently employed as a seafood specialist at the Lebanon Road, Mt. Juliet Publix. He was the son of the late, Edwin Harrison and India Elizabeth White Hurd.

He is survived by: wife of 31 Years, Pamela Hurd; twin daughters, Kari Hurd and Shari (Paul) Hedges; sisters, Pamela Cubinski and Gigi Phillips. He was the PawPaw of Dylan and Corey Hedges 

Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 17, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jerry Williams officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Family and friends served as pallbearers. 

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to United Way of Wilson County or the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Research.

Abram Geren McLemore, Jr., 76, Nashville, and formerly of Greenwood, Miss., died Sunday, Nov. 17.  

McLemore was a farmer, banker and credit analyst. He was the son of the late, Abram Geren McLemore, Sr. and Anna Laura Dyer McLemore. Mr. McLemore was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rucker McLemore.

He is survived by: daughters, Kevin McLemore and Regan McLemore; sister, Ann Carothers.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th floor, New York, NY 10001.

Claude Allen Partlow, Sr. PDF Print E-mail

Funeral services and a celebration of the life of Mr. Claude Allen Partlow, Sr., was Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Partlow Funeral Chapel in Lebanon, with Rev. Ray Clubb and Rev. David Fallin officiating. A graveside service followed at the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation was Friday, Nov. 15 and preceding the service on Saturday. 

Partlow, 80, passed away Nov. 13 in Lebanon. He was an active member of the Mt. Juliet First Baptist Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Lebanon High School. He graduated college from Tennessee Technological University in 1955 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering.

Partlow served our nation as a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard. Through out his years in the engineering field, he worked for both the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Tennessee Valley Authority as an electrical and nuclear engineer. He was active in his church as the Church Training/Education Director, choir member, Church Treasurer, and Deacon for many years. He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Madison, Alabama, where he served as the Church Treasurer until moving to Tennessee to be closer to his family. 

Partlow was always an active member of his community as well, as a member of The Gideons International and The Lion’s Club. He also loved playing his baritone in the church orchestra and community band. His other favorite pastimes were fishing, golfing, photography, and telling jokes.

Partlow is the son of the late Bluford and Edna Partlow,  and is also preceded in death by his brother, James. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myra Rose (Stonecipher) Partlow;  three children, Lynn (Garry) Williams, Gail (Lewis) Moore, and Allen (Jackie) Partlow; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Luke) Brewington, Andrew (Heather) Stephens, Rachel Stephens, Shaun Williams, and Cody Partlow; six  great-grandchildren; four step great- grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers, Howard (Nancy) Partlow and Jerry (Judy) Partlow; sister-in-law, Annette (Joe) Stewart; numerous nieces and nephews. 

Active pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Mount Juliet, his breakfast buddies, and his friends from Rutland Place. Robert Andrew Thordsen, 68, Mt. Juliet, died Wednesday, Nov. 13.  Thordsen was formerly a chemist with Quaker Chemical and owner of Interfluids in Shelbyville. He was a former member of the Shelbyville Lions Club.

He is survived by: son, Joe (Helga) Thordsen; brothers, Herman Thordsen ad Milton Thordsen; sister, Florence Haimovivi; grandchildren, Christopher Thordsen and Patrick Thordsen.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 18 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Tim Pippin officiating. Visitation was prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McGavock High School Band or the DuPont Hadley Band.
