Hershel R. West, Jr., 61, Mt. Juliet, passed away Saturday, April at his home after an extended illness. 

West was retired from CSX Railroad. He was a Vietnam veteran with the U.S. Army from 1971-1975 and a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. He is preceded in death by his father, Hershel R. West, Sr., sister Joretta West Bilbrey and brother, Johnny Dwight West. 

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Smith West; son, Brandon Harvey; daughters, Sara West (Jason) Hendricks and Lauren West Kendall; grandchildren, Piper and Graysen Harvey; sisters, Janet West (Edmond) Busey and Joan West; brothers, Kenny (Sherry) West and Denny (Jamie) West; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Funeral services were Monday, April 22 in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Friel officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in Hermitage Memorial Gardesn with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Don Hall, Charlie Pruitt and Tommy Jones will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation was Monday.

Charles G. Carr, 75, Mt. Juliet passed away April 13. 

Carr was a corporate pilot for many years, a zoning inspector for Metro and retired in 2003. Over the years he owned many boats and enjoyed his time on Old Hickory Lake. Charlie also enjoyed watching football and was a big Tennessee Titans fan.  In recent years he and his wife began taking trips in their motor home and enjoyed many trips to Iowa and Florida.  Charlie enjoyed spending time with family and his many friends.

Carr was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Effie Carr and his beloved dog, Mandy.  

He is survived by: his wife, Linda L. Carr; son, Randy (Kathy) Carr; daughters, Connie (Jeff) Marshall and Cheri Prince; step-son, Brian (Robyn) Hamilton; step-daughter, Brenda (David) DeHaai; grandchildren, Wesley White, Lacey White, Madison Prince, Laine Prince, Jordan Hamilton, Mariah Hamilton, Chase Brown, Kelsie DeHaai, Morgan DeHaai, Rylee DeHaai and Rachel Watson; great-grandchildren,Colton White, Talan Winterbottom, Briston Winterbottom, Tiffany Dixon, and Isaac Watson; and many close friends.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 16 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet. Visitation with the family was Tuesday, April 16.

Katherine Moore Freeman, 93, of Mt. Juliet, died Sunday, April 14, surrounded by her family. 

She was born August 2, 1919 at her grandmother’s home in Nashville to the late, John Campbell Moore, Sr. and Flossie Mae Neal Moore. Mrs. Freeman was a 1936 graduate of Isaac Litton High School. She wed Charles “Jerry” Freeman Oct. 28, 1943 and was married to him for over 50 years until his death in 1999. She resided at their home in Mt. Juliet for over 40 years. Mrs. Freeman held numerous retail positions in her early career and eventually retired from the Treasurer of the State of Tennessee after 14 years of service. She was an active member of the Democratic Party of Tennessee especially during the election of Lyndon B. Johnson. She served as President for the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women in it’s early years. Mrs. Freeman was an active member of Cloyd’s Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Victory Baptist Church in her later years. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Campbell Moore, Jr. and beloved niece, Gaylene Moore Worsham.

She is survived by: niece, Joy Moore (Billy) Caskey of Shelbyville; nephew-in-law – Robert Lee Worsham of Hendersonville; great-nieces, Amy Worsham (Pete) Monroe of Asheville, NC, Kimberly Worsham (Terry) Carter of Hendersonville, Katherine Leigh Caskey of Nashville,       and Elizabeth Claire Caskey of Knoxville; great-great niece, Taylor Lynn Carter; great-great nephews, Charles “Charlie” Worsham Monroe and  Jordan Wayne Carter

Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Monroe, Terry Carter, Charles Jones, Ken Cates and Jimmy Tate. 

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Natalie Kay Kennedy, 37, Mt. Juliet, died Monday, April 8. 

Nat was preceded in death by her grandmother, Barbara Hall. 

She is survived by: mother, Janet (Rick) Hart; father, Matt (Linda) Kennedy; brother, Jonathon Harrell; grandparents, Bill and Betty Kennedy.

Funeral services were Friday, April 12 at First Baptist Church Nashville, 108 7th Ave. So., Nashville, TN with William Wiley officiating.

Crystal K. Lang, 75, a long-time resident of the Mt. Juliet/Hermitage area residing at 3532 Hobson Pike, passed suddenly Sunday, March 31.  

Born Feb. 21, 1938, Crystal is survived by three sons, Jim Stevens, Rockford, Ill., Craig Stevens, Franklin, and Scott Stevens, Hermitage, and one deceased son Mark Stevens, one brother Richard Kearney Genoa, Ill., and two sisters, Lillian Rusin, Genoa, Ill. and Lucille Bujalski, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.  

There will be no immediate visitation.  A memorial service and celebration of Crystal’s life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2 p.m. at Our Fathers House Community Church, 11380 Central Pike, Mt. Juliet, TN.
