Bruce Barkalow, 77, Mt. Juliet, passed away Oct. 15.
 He was born June 9, 1938 in New York, to the late Al and Elizabeth Barkalow and was raised in New Jersey. He often referred to himself as a “50’s guy”.  Bruce was a member of the 799th Air Force Unit in Joelton, TN, and spent many years working in business development with Presidential Financial and Capital Business Credit. He was a drummer with the group “The 3M Boys”, and was a lifelong fisherman and lover of the outdoors.
  He was a loving husband of 55 years to wife, Ann Owens Barkalow; beloved father to Cheryl, Scott (Tina), Todd, and Camille; “Pop Pop” to Anthony, Julianne, Alexander, A.J. and Tennessee; and brother to Bonnie Brandt. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Gleason.
  A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Missy Armistead, 44, Lebanon, passed away Oct. 25. The Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home.

Sharon K. Fountain, 60, Mt. Juliet passed away on Sept. 17, after losing her battle cancer (plasma cell leukemia).

Born on Sept. 12, 1955 in Denver, Col. and lived there until she re-located to Mt. Juliet in 2008. Sharon was proceeded in death by her mother Margaret and brother Charles “Butch” Miller both of Denver, Colorado. She is survived by sisters’ Carole Potter of Vero Beach, Fla., Melinda Tallent of Hotchkiss, Col. and Tammy Stephenson of Mt. Juliet. Sharon is also survived by 4 nieces, 2 nephews, 2 great nieces and 2 great nephews. Sharon will be greatly missed by family and friends.

 Services will be held at Global Vision Baptist Church, 2060 Old Lebanon Dirt Road on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. A luncheon will follow the services at Timothy and Tammy Stephenson’s home in Mt. Juliet.

Bettie Tanner, 85, passed away Oct. 8.  

The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday and from noon until the service on Sunday.  The Funeral Service, conducted by Pastor Terry Campbell, is 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home and will be followed by interment in the Gallatin City Cemetery.  Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers.

Bettie was born July 15, and grew up in Sparta.  She worked in the Sparta Shirt Factory, where she met her husband of 54 years, Walter Tanner.  Walter became the stitching foreman and later the plant manager of Westmoreland Manufacturing, Bettie took great pride in making a good home for her family.  They raised gardens and had a dairy farm for a time while Bettie continued to work outside the home off and on until she retired at age 65.  Canning and sewing were passions of hers, as well as keeping a clean and orderly home.  After a logging accident took her husband’s life in 2005, Bettie sold her house in Gallatin and built a house in Lebanon to be closer to her son Anthony and his family.  

Mrs. Tanner is preceded in death by her husband Walter A. Tanner, parents William Earl Clark and Beatrice Lavada Hutson Clark, sisters Nellie Rea and Mary Lou Clark all of Sparta, and brothers Franklin, Anslo, and Willie of Sparta, Abbie of Norfolk VA, and H.N. of San Diego CA.  She is survived by sons Michael Tanner (JoAnn) of Murfreesboro and Anthony Tanner (Renee) of Lebanon, grandchildren Gregory of Murfreesboro and LeAnna and LaDonna of Lebanon, numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.  Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, (615)444-9393.
