John R. Sharpe, 80, Perry Ga., a former resident of Mt Juliet died Aug. 6 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Heart of Georgia Hospice.

Sharpe was born Sept. 10, 1933 in Buffalo, NY to the late Arthur T. and Henrietta Iglehart Sharpe. He was an insurance adjuster and former member of the Lion Club and Beekeepers Association. He lived in Mt Juliet for more than 23 years.

Sharpe is survived by his wife Florence (Corky) Sharpe of Perry, son Don (Denise) of Kathleen, Ga. daughter, Karen Sharpe of Belton, Mo. and 3 grandchildren.

Dora Ann Tuck, 75, Nashville, passed away July 29. 

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Jimmy and Grace Baker; siblings, Willie Baker, Sarah Ortega, Oleane Dotson and Larry Baker. 

She is survived by: her loving husband of 55 years, Donald Tuck; daughters, Donna Bates (Barry), Dawn Tuck, Deena Downs (John), Demetrice Hatchell (Lanier) and Dana Green; grandchildren, Taylor Bates (Mylania), Trevor Bates, Tanner Bates, Ashlee Minchey, Krista Willike, Jenna White (Jay), Nikki Harris (Johnny), Tucker Batson, Zach Batson, Bailey Green, Presley Green and Lily Green; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Nathan, Anna, Cole, Caylan, Chase, Braden, Jackson and Gavin; siblings, Ruby Dickinson (Don), Lou Bielacyce (Chris), Faith Brown (Jimmy), Angie Scott (Buddy) and J.P. Baker; sister-in-law, Donna Baker; brother-in-law, Lyndon Dotson; brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Martha Tuck; mother-in-law, Joyce Tuck. 

A funeral service was Friday, Aug. 1 at the Hermitage Funeral Home. Burial followed at the Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family was Thursday and Friday until time of the service at the funeral home.

Jane Goodsell (Meisner) Vear, 93, Mt. Juliet,  died Aug. 8. 

Jane was formerly of Springfield, Mass.; North Eastham, Mass. and St. Petersburg, Fla.. Jane was born in Springfield, Mass. on Aug. 13, 1921 to the late, Buell Pratt and Elizabeth A. Fletcher Goodsell. She was a graduate of Technical High School where she was voted “Outstanding Female Athlete” of her class. After graduation she was employed by the United States Rubber Company of Elmwood, Conn. Jane had a career working for the Boy Scout Pioneer Valley Council Headquarters and as a local Cub Scout Den Mother. She is the recipient of Scouting’s highest award – the Silver Fawn. She and her family maintained a home on Cape Cod for over 50 years which became a gathering place for many family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Jane was also preceded in death by two beloved husbands, Jack Meisner and George Vear, both WWII Navy veterans; son, Wayne Meisner; brothers, Robert, William and Roger Goodsell and sister, Edith Plowman.

She is survived by: sons, Bruce (Linda) Meisner of Haymarket, VA and Paul (Deborah) Meisner of Mt. Juliet; sister, Marge Mills of Suffield, CT; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 26 at Byron-Keenan Funeral Home, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield, MA. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

William Thomas Beck Jr. PDF Print E-mail

William Thomas Beck Jr. (Bill) passed away Monday, Aug. 4, at age 72.  He had lived in Wilson County since 1970.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Viola (Payne) Beck, and his father, William Thomas Beck Sr. of Michigan.  He is survived by his so Terry Beck of Fisk, Mo., three adopted children, Gene Beck, Marvin Beck and Frances Beck, five grand-children and numerous great-grandchildren.  He also leaves behind long-time companion Ada (Lisa) Taylor, sister, Betty Harford, nephew, Jamie Harford, niece, Katie Harford Hogue and uncle, Jimmy Payne, of Nashville along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Bill Beck was born in Gideon, Mo. Oct. 9, 1941.  He attended Gideon Elementary and High Schools, moving to St. Louis at age 16 where he lived and worked prior to settling in Tennessee in 1970.

A self-taught, talented builder, Bill designed one of the first portable buildings in West Memphis, Ar.  His specialties were custom boat docks, many on Old Hickory Lake, and unique horse stables. Bill’s mother, Bertha, owned and operated the Mt. Juliet Tailoring shop at the corner of Mt. Juliet Rd. and Division St. from 1972 - 1987 years.  She passed away in 2008.

John Everett, 77, Mt. Juliet, passed away Aug. 9. 

Everett was preceded in death by parents, Henry and Thelma Everett; and brother, Tommy Everett. 

He is survived by: wife, Helen Everett; sons, Tim (Lynn) Everett and Steve (Lisa) Everett; brothers, Bill Everett and Mike (Dessie) Everett; sister, Blanche House; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 2pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Danny Tomlinson officiating. Interment followed the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family was Monday, Aug. 11 and Tuesday, Aug. 12.
