John W. Adams, Jr., 73, Mt. Juliet, passed away Sept. 23. 

A proud Navy Vietnam veteran and patriot, John was a devoted family man, known for his keen wit and generous spirit. As owner and operator of ProtoType Graphics since 1980, he leaves behind many treasured friends and associates. We will miss his infectious laugh and his ability to tell a great story.

Adams was preceded in death by parents, John & Lillian Adams, Sr., and son, Larry Adams. He is survived by wife of 44 years, Carol Adams; son, Bret (Kelly) Snow; grandchildren, Jacob and Taylor Snow; and sister, Lucy McClain.

Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 27 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Frank Batson and Bro. Jim Biffle officiating. Interment followed the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Garry Smith, Allen Loftis, Mickey Jacobs, Randy Lee, Cliff Taylor, Ronnie Hoffman and Buddy Chapman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: John Templeton, Wayne Savage and Jeff Smith. Visitation with the family was Friday, Sept. 26 and Saturday, Sept. 27 until time of service.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Tad (Lester) Porter for 14 years as John’s oncologist. Memorial contributions may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.

Claudette Marie Bunch,  79, Greenbrier, and formerly of Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 25. 

Bunch was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Juliet. She was retired from Cloverbottom. Mrs. Bunch was the daughter of the late, John P. and Marion Margaret Swope Souque. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ralph Ellis and William Owen “Bill” Bunch; son, Thomas Leo Ellis and sister, Gloria Barker.

She is survived by: sons, Ralph Paul Ellis and Mike Ellis; daughters, Christina Marie Ellis, Margaret Elizabeth Hammer, Theresa Ann Roberts, Helen Louise Crestman; step-children, Ronnie Bunch, Marilyn Kerr, Leona Lynn Kerr and Teresa Faye Bunch; sisters, Mary David, Pat Gloceka and Anna Rodriguez; 25 grandchildre; several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were Friday, Sept. 26 at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Rev. Terry Carver officiating. Pallbearers will be Paul Ellis, Jared Roberts, Jeremiah Roberts, Brian Kerr, Phillip Marvin and Michael McClain.

Cora Lane, 85, Mt. Juliet passed away Sept. 28. 

She is preceded in death by parents, Larson and Sadie Lane. 

She is survived by: son, Hiram (Caroline) Griffin; sister, Mildred Davis; grandchildren, Tina (Bo) Wix, Chris (Sheila) Griffin, Kathie (Kenny) Lewellen, Joseph (Jasmine) Griffin and Joshua Griffin; great-grandchildren, Michael Wix, Kevin Wix, Michael Lewellen, Aaron Lewellen, Brittney Lewellen, Christopher Griffin, Jonathan Griffin and Sofia Griffin; great-great-grandchildren, Riley and Hunter Lewellen; nieces, Frances (Bill) Laney and Judy (Willard) Sullivan; nephew, Mike (Brenda) Davis; and great-niece, Ginger.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Gladeville Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Grubbs officiating. Interment followed the service at Leeville Cemetery with Roy Lane, Chris Griffin, Joseph Griffin, Joshua Griffin, Kenneth Lane and Mike Sanders serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Monday, Sept. 29 at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet and Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the church.

Sarah Dean Holland Matthews, 96, Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 29. 

Matthews was a member of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. She was retired form McQuiddy Printing Company. Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late, Barney R. and Rubye Virginia Lewis Holland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Zilmon Odell “Bobby” Matthews; siblings, Charlotte Miller, Virginia Wright and J.T. Holland and granddaughter, Michele Matthews Esposito. 

She is survived by: sons, John L. (Debbie) Matthews and Philip D. Matthews; grandchildren, Terri Matthews Heidebreicht and Katrina Matthews Sekhani; great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Esposito, Anne Marie Heidebreicht, Carlin Elise Sekhani and Alaina Leigh Heidebreicht; several nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Bill Speight officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Albert England, Pat Hackney, Larry Engles, Tommy Williams, Stephen Wright and Tommy Holland. Dewayne Griffin will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Bonnie Jean Cooper Startup, 66, Mt. Juliet, died Sept. 25. 

Startup was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late, James L. Cooper and Daisy Hollis Cooper Green.

She is survived by: husband, H. Richard Startup; sons, Shawn M. Startup and David P. (Eliza) Startup; brother, James L. (Linda) Cooper.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Bond Memorial Chapel with Rev. Chuck Groover officiating. Interment followed at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Jimbo Farrell, Chris Moore, Bill Henry, Bryan Chumley, Bill Tune and Ryan Long.
