Marion Oneida Shelnut, 89, Mt. Juliet, died April 16. 

Shelnut was a member of Center Chapel Church of Christ and a member of the Womens Business Association in the State of Arkansas. She worked at Arkansas State Hospital as a hairdresser and owned The Busy Bee Beauty Shop in Benton, Ark. After retiring, she volunteered at the Senior Adult Center in Benton before moving to Mt. Juliet in 2002. Shelnut was the daughter of the late, Emmett Johnson and Mary Coats Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Shelnut and Elmer Pennington; step-mother, Ida Pearl Johnson; sisters, Elizabeth Johnson, Hazel Ridgeway and Muriel Griffith and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Jean Shelnut; son, Jimmy Franklin Pennington

She is survived by: son, James Randall Shelnut; daughters, Mary Sue (Mike) Collins and Barbara (Allen) Graves; brother, Murry Franklin (Pat) Johnson; grandchildren, Bruce (Ginny) Smith, Dennis (Selena) Smith, Tim (Sherry) Graves, Greg (Terri) Graves, Mike (Sharon) Graves, Tanya Peters, Matt (Christy) Shelnut and Brandi (Adam) Storey; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 19, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Bro. Darrell Duncan and Bro. Andy Connelly officiating. Graveside services were Monday, April 21 at McPherson Cemetery in Sardis, Ark. with Pastor Scott Patton officiating. Active pallbearers were be Bruce Smith, Dennis Smith, Tim Graves, Greg Graves, Mike Graves, Matt Shelnut and Adam Storey. Honorary pallbearers were be Elders and Deacons of Center Chapel Church of Christ, Mike Collins, Bob Ramsey, Johnny Brown, Jim McDaniel, Jim Tomlin, Jared Tomlin, Joe Graves and Larry Graves.  

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203 or Center Chapel Church of Christ, 9500 Central Pike, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122. 

Visitation was. Friday and Saturday at Bond Memorial Chapel and 9-11 a.m. Monday at Ashby Funeral Home in Benton, Ark.

Roy Gene South, 59, passed away after a year-long battle with cancer  Monday, April 14. 

He is survived by: his wife, Virginia; daughter, Adrienne (Michael) Farnan; son, Roy (Heather) South; granddaughter, Jaya South.

Roy has donated his body to medical research and education. No services are planned at this time.

Survived by: wife, Marie Branson; parents, William C. and Lisa Branson; sons, Greg (Mari) Branson & Steven (Kirby) Branson; sister, Marita Witcher; sister-in-law, Valerie Branson; grandchildren, Andrew, Alicia & Elisabeth. 

Visitation was Tuesday, April 15 with Funeral Mass following at St. Stephens Catholic Community with Father Kibby, celebrant.

Cody Ryan Conder, 27, Hermitage, died April 9. 

Cody was a 2004 graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and a graduate of Vol State Community College. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Cody was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Sweeney.

He is survived by: parents, Bruce and Rita Sweeney Conder; brothers, Kyle Conder and Casey (Lindsey Purnell) Conder; grandparents, Rose Sweeney, Herman (Louise) Conder and Dorothy (Raymond) Davis; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Private graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville, TN.

Doris Alene Fulton, 94, Nashville, died April 10. 

Fulton was a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late, William E. and Grace Mae Sampson Helliwell. Mrs. Fulton was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Funk.

She is survived by: sister, Betty-Jane Clark; niece, Grace V. Feeck; nephew, James A. Harmon, Jr.

At Mrs. Fulton’s request, her remains will be cremated. No services are planned.
