Obra Gene Maxey, Sr. 81, Gallatin, died Aug. 4, 

Maxey was retired as the Owner/Operator of Cullman Maxey RV Sales and Two Rivers Campground. 

He was a member of Gladdice Missionary Baptist Church, a founding member of TCPC Campground and a member of The Airstream Club of Nashville. 

He is preceded in death by: parents, Willie and Liddie (Sircy) Maxey, former wife, Jo Anne Maxey, sister-in-law,   Mildred Agee, Brothers-in-law, William “Bunky” Jones, Charles Jones, Tom Jones.

He is survived by: son Bud (Ashley) Maxey; daughter, Dawn (Dana) Hudson; brother, Garry (Dot) Maxey; brother-in-law, Bob Agee; Aunt, Maurine Sircy, grandchildren, Ashley Joye, Brandi (Matt) Scharbach, Lala Maxey, Easton Maxey; great grandchildren, Kylar Hudson, Lily Bugg, Jace Mashburn and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Friday, Aug. 7, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Reverend Chuck Groover. Interment followed at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. 

Active pallbearers were Dana Hudson, Matt Scharbach, Anthony Bryant, Kylar Hudson, Jimmy Davenport, Charles Ricketts, Dr. Howard Salyer, Andy Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Bob Sircy, Forrest Mathis, Eddie Long, James Agee, Larry Mills, John A. Hobbs, Willie and Helen McDonald.

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Mayo Clinic, Dept. of Development, 200 First St. SW, Rochester, MN 55905.

Robert Warren Hurt, 87, Hermitage, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9. 

He was born Dec. 27, 1927 in Gallatin, to the late, Porter Warren and Lillie Mae Moore Hurt. Hurt was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Eva Virginia Eakes Hurt.

He is survived by: children, Eddie (Cindy) Hurt, Sherry (Larry) Faircloth, Terri Sutherland-Freta and Shanta Hurt, siblings, Ben Hurt and Patricia Meador and seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Hurt was a member of Corinth Church of Christ. He was employed by the Armed Forces of the United States of America, where he was a Senior Master Sergeant for the Tennessee Air National Guard. Hurt served his country for 35 years and retired in January 1985.

Graveside services at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens for close family and friends will be private. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Sarah Martha Oakley Griffith, 94, Nashville, died Aug. 5. 

Griffith was a member of First Baptist Church of Nashville at 7th and Broad. 

She was a graduate of Hume Fogg High School and attended Ward Belmont College. 

She was the daughter of the late Don Robert and Ellen Florelle Reep Oakley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Turner Griffith.

She is survived by:  children Martha (William) Boeglin of Mt. Juliet,  and Robert (Linda Queen) Griffith of Macon, Ga., grandchildren Elizabeth Boeglin, Charlotte Boeglin and Gretchen Boeglin, all of Mt. Juliet, and Aubrey Griffith of Georgia.

Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

The family requests no flowers, please. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Nashville, 108 7th Avenue So., Nashville, TN 37203.

Alton Wayne Foster, 82, Shop Springs, passed away Saturday, Aug. 8.  The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Danny Sellars, is 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, with the family receiving friends from 11 a.m. until the service.  Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service.  

 Foster, born Nov. 19, 1933 in Dekalb County, was a truck driver.  He is preceded in death by father Holly Foster and mother Fannie Shields, and brother Carl.  Survivors include: wife Bobbie Jean Foster; two sons, Philip and David; sister, Joe Dean Powell; two nephews, and a niece.
