Hattie E. Woodard Tipton New, 77, Lebanon, passed away June 24. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, George New; mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. George Bailey. 

She is survived by: her five children, Shelia (David) Gibbs, John (Janet) Tipton, M.C. “Skeeter” Tipton, David (Donna) Tipton, and James (Tracy) Tipton; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister, Georgia Bailey Howley and family.   

A Graveside Service was Friday, June 26 in the Juliet Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.

Joe Dixon Ray, Mt. Juliet, was born May 28, 1931 in Wayne County, the son of the late Arthur Franklin and Myrtle Eloise Bell Ray. He was united in marriage to Patsy Ruth Johnson, Sept. 9, 1950. 

Ray was an owner/operator of a trucking business and served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. 

He departed this life Monday, June 29 at Alive Hospital at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, at the age of 84 Years, 1 Month, 1 Day. 

Survivors include: his wife, Patsy Ruth Johnson Ray, Mt. Juliet; daughters, Vicki Ray Richard and husband, Christopher, Mt. Juliet, and Alisha Ann Ray, Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Joe Johnson Ray and Caitlin Anne Richard both of Nashville, and beloved nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Cotton Ray and John H. Ray and a sister, Charlotte Marie Ray Davis. 

A graveside service was Tuesday, June 30 at McGlamery Cemetery, Collinwood, Tennessee with Tommy Flood officiating. Burial followed with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Shade Tree Clinic, Nashville, TN, Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center, Nashville, TN or to a charity of the senders choice.

Oscar L. Wright, Jr., 100, Murfreesboro, passed away Tuesday, June 23. 

Funeral services were Thursday, June 25 at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Dan Seeley officiating.  Interment followed in the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Wednesday, June 24. 

Wright was born March 19th, 1915 to the late Oscar Lafayette Wright, Sr. & Annie Pugh Wright. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Belle McMurtry Wright; infant son, Murray Edmond Wright; sisters, Provie Mae Tippit, and Nell Juanita Wright. 

Surviving family include: his daughter, Judy Fay Wright Hammock Seeley (James); son, Jerry N. Hammock; grandchildren, Michelle Hammock Newcomb (Chris), Tammy Hammock Dryden (Matt); great-grandchildren, Austen Hammock, Dixie Dryden, Zoe Newcomb, David Dryden, and Daniel Dryden.

Tommy Brewer, 68, Mt. Juliet, passed away Saturday, June 20. 

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 23 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Elder Charles Patterson officiating.  Interment followed in the Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Tuesday, June 23 until time of service. 

Brewer was born Dec. 15, 1946 to the late Alvis and Irene Mayberry Brewer in Rutherford County. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Brewer; daughter, Pamela Brewer; brother, Marvin Brewer, Foster Brewer; sisters, Mary Barrett, Louise Barrett, Florence “Billie” Brewer. He is survived by sons, Tommy Brewer, Jr., Billie Brewer; siblings, Robert “Charles” (Glenda) Brewer, Johnnie (Jeanette) Brewer, Helen (Gerald) Dodson, Margaret Barrett; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Roger Dale Clark, 71, Mt. Juliet, died June 20. 

Clark was a member of Old Hickory Church of Christ. He was retired from DuPont. Clark was an avid UT fan. He loved fishing and his farm. Clark was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carrie Clark and infant son, Bryan Mitchell Clark.

He is survived by: wife of 50 years, Joann Sweeton Clark; daughter, Christie (Keith) Capley; grandchildren, Keely Capley and Reese Capley.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Bond Memorial Chapel with Phillip Jenkins officiating. 

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to the Youth Group at Mt. Juliet Church of Christ or Old Hickory Church of Christ.
