|Martin’s contract renewed as City Manager|

The Board of Commissioners renewed the contract for City Manager Kenny Martin at the meeting Monday night.
The contract is for two years, but Martin said if the commission or the citizens would want him out of the contract, they could do so.
“I appreciate the opportunity you have given me,” said Martin. “There’s still a lot of improvements to be made.”
The resolution was the last item on the agenda, and was approved without any questions.
“That must tell you, you are doing an excellent job,” said Mayor Ed Hagerty to Martin.
In other action, the board approved to accept a $25,000 check from Wilson County Schools to help build a sidewalk on Golden Bear Gateway up to Mt. Juliet High School. Right now, students do not have much space to walk to school, and it can be dangerous with the cars going to school as well. The city will pay for a portion, and the developers of Stone Hollow will pay for a portion as well that is inside their neighborhood. Those factors are still to be worked out before second reading. The path is hoped to be completed some time early in the school year.
