HENDERSONVILLE - It took overtime, but the Mt. Juliet Bears upset District 9-AAA leader Hendersonville Friday night, 58-56.
The Commandos David Sheehan hit a three-pointer to send the game to overtime, but the Bears came away with the win.
Nolan Chowbay led the Bears with 22 points. John Mark Bell had 11 and Thomas Sharpe ended with 10.
After a tight first quarter in the girls’ game, the Lady Bears pulled away for a 65-38 win.
Sally McCabe led all scorers with 25 points and Ronjanae DeGray had 15 points.
Mt. Juliet will host Wilson Central Friday. The girls game tips off at 6:30 p.m.
Central sweeps Station Camp
(originally published in the Wilson Post) GLADEVILLE - Wilson Central’s Lady Wildcats evened their record at 11-11 on the season and 7-5 in District 9-AAA with a 48-34 victory at Station Camp Friday night.
Trailing 12-11 after one quarter, WCHS stunned the Bison with a 14-2 second period and took a 25-14 lead into intermission. Hailey Averitt nailed a pair of 3-pointers and led Central with 15 points. Rachel Bean added 10.
Trailing 33-29 going into the fourth quarter, the Wilson Central Wildcats caught fire for an 18-6 closing run in Friday’s 47-39 victory over Station Camp. The Wildcats got 16 points from Jacob Williams as they raised the overall record to 19-6 / 9-3 in District 9-AAA.
DCA holds off MJCA
(originally published in the Wilson Post) MT. JULIET - The Lady Saints of Mt. Juliet Christian Academy dropped a 44-31 home loss to Donelson Christian Friday night - falling to 9-13 overall / 4-6 in District 1-A of Division II.
Shelby Leech dropped in three 3-points as she and Lynnze Ethridge each finished with nine points.
Jackson Harrell’s five 3-pointers and 22 points wasn’t enough for the Saints an Mt. Juliet Christian lost a 61-54 decision to visiting Donelson Christian Friday.
Trevor West and Zack Zones each had 11 as the Saints dropped to 9-15 overall / 2-8 in league play.
MJCA will host Zion Christian Academy from Maury County Tuesday in a 6 p.m. twinbill.
