PORTLAND - Savanna Oliver belted a pair of homers Tuesday as Mt. Juliet High blasted District 9AAA rival Portland 17-2. Kelsie Craighead also ripped a homer in the win.

Mt. Juliet pounded out 16 hits, including two apiece from Lauren Payne, Ashton Stowe, Shelby Woodard, Craighead and Oliver. Lauren Woodard went the distance for the decision, scattering five hits and striking out seven.

Central picks up wins

Hannah Bodenhorn pitched a shutout as Central came away with a 3-0 win over Gallatin Tuesday. 

Lauren Stavinoga blasted her third home run of the season.

Central played two games Friday night in the Franklin Sonic Showcase, winning one game after losing the opener.  Central lost to Ravenwood in extra innings 4-3 before beating Independence 1-0.

Morgan Powell, who was the starting pitcher, helped her cause at the plate by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the opener. However, the Lady Wildcats came up a run short.

In the 2nd game, Bodenhorn gave an amazing effort on the mound, giving up two hits in six innings while striking out 15 batters.

Central picked up a 7-0 win over Friendship Christian Saturday. 

Morgan Powell was 3-for-3, four RBIs and two doubles. She also got the start on the mound and struck out seven over five innings. 

Katie Eakes was 1-for-3, two RBIs.

Kendall Eden was 1-for-3, RBI.

Central was then shut out by Dickson County, 2-0.

Central bounced back by beating Arlington, 5-1.
