Mt. Juliet Christian Academy concluded its 2013 football season with a 47-14 loss at playoff-bound Donelson Christian Academy Friday night.

The Saints had few highlights playing against the high-powered DCA offense which generated 370 yards of total offense and kept the Saints on their own side of mid-field the entire first half.

DCA began the scoring barrage when, on the Saints first possession, MJCA quarterback, Ric VanMali’s pass to tight end, Zack Jones, was intercepted and run in for a DCA touchdown. The Wildcats also scored on their first two possessions and by the end of the first half held a 37-0 lead over the Saints.

MJCA got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Saints defensive back, Landon Boyd, intercepted DCA quarterback, Will Reddick, and returned the ball for a touchdown. Reddick ended the night with 109 yards of passing on fourteen attempts. DCA added another touchdown and a field goal in the second half.

The Saints final score came in the last minute of the game when quarterback, Ric VanMali, threw a touchdown pass to tight end Zack Jones, a scoring combination that has worked several times for the Saints during the course of the season.

DCA will enter the TSSAA Division II – A playoff’s with an 8-2 overall record. The Saints end the season with a record of 3-7 and will open the 2014 season at home against Whitwell High School.
