Lady Wildcats pick up 2 wins, Wildcats split PDF Print E-mail

The Wilson Central girls fell behind early, but came away with a 61-51 win over Stewarts Creek Friday at the Lebanon Thanksgiving Classic. 

Stewarts Creek’s full court pressure defense pushed them out to a double digit lead in the first quarter. Central couldn’t get the shots to fall, but battled back late in the first quarter. The Lady Hawks led 23-15 at the end of the first. 

Central dominated the second quarter behind the hot hand of Kendall Spray, who knocked down 18 points in the first half, 12 of it from behind the arc. By the intermission, the Lady Wildcats took the lead at 37-30. 

Central kept Stewarts Creek at a safe distance in the second half, leading 48-37 after three, and finishing with the 61-51 win. 

Spray led all scorers with 26 points, nailing six three-pointers in the process. She also had seven rebounds and two steals. Dominique St. Louis was one rebound short of a double-double with 14 points,  nine rebounds and a block. Hannah Brewer pulled in 10 rebounds, and had five points and two steals. 

On Saturday, Central got another win, this time over Maplewood. 

St. Louis got a lot done in the paint, finishing with 30 points. Spray finished the game with 12.

The Wilson Central boys split their games at the Oakland Thanksgiving Classic. 

The Wildcats opened with a loss to Tyner Academy (Chattanooga), 64-45. 

They bounced back Saturday with a 61-46 win over Oakland. 

Ben Palmer led the way for the Wildcats with 17 points. Jacob Williams added 15.
