Rain cuts Warrior Classic short, Mt. Juliet picks up win PDF Print E-mail

Rain cut short the Warrior Spring Classic, but Mt. Juliet was able to scratch out a win over Houston Friday. 

Thursday, rain ended a game with Dobyns-Bennett at a 2-2 tie. 

Friday, Mt. Juliet was able to get past Houston in the 7th with a 4-3 win. 

C.J. Kastner was able to score on an error in the bottom of the seventh for the win. 

Mt. Juliet got on the board  in the bottom of the third, with a 2-RBI double by Marshall Gei and a Zach Ehrhart RBI single. 

Eli Schreiber got the win. Logan Harris pitched the first five innings, only surrendering three hits and an earned run. He struck out five. 

The Bears picked up a district win Monday, as they downed Portland in 10 innings, 6-3. 

Mt. Juliet will host Brentwood Friday, 5 p.m.

MJ’s Sanders throws no-hitter

Savannah Sanders propelled Mt. Juliet to three wins last week with a no-hitter, and two one-hitters. 

The first win came over Wilson Central Wednesday in a 1-0 win. 

Ashton Stowe got the game winning RBI in the top of the seventh. Sanders struck out 10 and only gave up one hit. 

The Lady Bears then travelled on to Chattanooga for the Chattanooga Choo Choo Tournament. 

Sanders tossed a no-hitter in a 11-0 win over Sequoyah. The Lady Bears put all 11 runs up in the first three innings. 

That was followed by another 1-hitter by Sanders, as Mt. Juliet beat Sale Creek, 10-0. Shelby Woodard had a home run in the contest. 

Mt. Juliet will travel to Station Camp Thursday for a 5 p.m. game.

MJ soccer suffers 1st loss

Mt. Juliet suffered their first loss of the season Thursday, 2-1 to Oakland. The Patriots got the late goal for the winner. 

Mt. Juliet’s goal came from Cameron Woodfin, assisted by Tanner Dabell. 

White House visits Mt. Juliet Wednesday, 6 p.m.

MJCA’s Smith throws no-hitter

MJCA Lady Saints defeated Community Christian Friday at home 14-0.

The winning pitcher was eighth grader Caitlyn Smith. She pitched a complete game shut out allowing no hits. Smith had 10 strikeouts. The Lady Saints scored 11 runs in the first inning.  MJCA had two homers in the second inning from Ashley Walling and Olivia Gonzalez.  

Ashley Walling had three hits with 2 RBIs, Abi Hildabrand finished with two hits with a RBI, Caitlyn Smith had two hits with two RBIs, Kendra Robertson had a hit with a RBI.

MJCA suffered their first loss of the season Monday to Friendship Christian, 14-0.
