Wilson Central hosted 9-AAA power Beech Wednesday night and came away with a 5-1 victory.
Katie Eakes had a bases loaded double on a 3-0 count in the bottom of the fifth inning, which added to Central’s 1-0 lead. Hannah Bodenhorn made sure that lead would hold up, as she pitched all seven innings, giving up four hits and a run while striking out 11.
Eakes led Central with two hits and a walk, while Kayla Varner, Morgan Powell, and Brooke Pfefferle were each on base twice for the Wildcats.
Central picked up another win Thursday versus Gallatin, 6-1.
Morgan Powell pitched for Central, allowing two hits over seven innings while striking out 11 batters. Powell also singled and doubled for the Wildcats on the night. Other two-hit performers were Katie Eakes and Kelsey Tomlin. Central also received hits from Brittany Wiseman, Kendall Eden, and Kayla Varner.
Central visited the Soddy-Daisy Lady Trojan classic over the weekend, and went 5-1.
The Lady Wildcats recorded wins against Walker Valley, CSAS, Rhea County, Sequatchie County and Bradley Central before losing to host Soddy-Daisy in the tournament final, 3-2.
Monday, Central knocked off Station Camp, 9-1.
Central scored early and often in the game, while Hannah Bodenhorn limited the Lady Bison to two infield hits while striking out 14. The Lady Wildcats jumped on The Lady Bison early by scoring four runs in the first inning, two in the second, and two more in the third.
Karlie Odum started the third inning with a single before Kendal Tomlin came in to run for her. Kelsey Tomlin then singled, giving Central runners on first and second. The Tomlin’s stole second and third before Wiseman drove them in with a double.
Wilson Central had 13 hits total in the game. Wiseman had three hits while Varner, Pfefferle, Smith, and Kelsey Tomlin each had two. Odum and Eakes each had a hit as well for Central.
