Rutland Elementary held their groundbreaking Wednesday. There will be a new entire school built beside the current one. One will hold K-2 and the other will hold 3-5. The campus will be able to hold 1,600 students. ~Photo by Kenny Howell

Cody Hicks, Hunter Hicks, and Tyler Sevier “stuff” a scarecrow from Garr’s Rental & Feed in Mt. Juliet. Garr’s popular Scarecrow Workshops begin Saturday, Sept. 29. Garr’s offers scarecrows in adult size and child size; participants provide clothing for their scarecrow, while Garr’s provides the frame, stuffing, hat and accessories. Workshops fill up quickly and reservations are required. Call 754-2777 to make a reservation.
