Mt. Juliet suffered a 7-2 loss to Pope John Paul II Wednesday, Oct. 24. Scoring for Mt. Juliet in the first period was Cade Crosslin, assisted by Logan Bailey and Dylan Cole, and Chase Perkins, assisted by Eddie Hunsberger. Bears hold off ...

Wilson Central got a scare from upset minded Portland Friday on Homecoming. Central trailed 24-14 late, but scored two touchdowns in the final quarter to get the win. Jordan Roundtree (above) found Gabe Angel with 1:33 to go to put Central ahead for good. Trey Givens cut the lead to 24-21 on a 1-yard run with 11 minutes left in the game. Tim Fitzgerald scored a touchdown as well on his first game back from injury. Central faces a huge contest Friday as they host Beech. Both teams are the only undefeated teams left in District 9-AAA. The Lady Wildcats from Central traveled to Lebanon High School for Central’s second district match. Senior Sara Moser scored a goal in the first half while Junior Molly Graham punched in another. The second half saw Moser connect with a cross from Graham in a quick turn which confused the Lebanon defense and resulted in Moser’s second goal of the night. This past weekend the West Wilson Middle School’s volleyball team won the Cumberland Volleyball Tournament held at Cumberand University. The tournament was made up of 18 middle school teams in the Middle Tennessee area. West Wilson Middle played in the championship game against Mt. Juliet Middle winning in two sets of 25-12 and 25-17. Nathalie Ventura and Natalie Walker from West Wilson Middle were also awarded All-Tournament. First row: Makayla Herrold, Natalie Walker, Kendal Tomlin, Bailey Kaposy, Loren Schmitt and Sidney Enke.
