David Ross for Congress’ 6th District
David Ross is running for the U.S. House of Representatives for the 6th district. Ross is a proud son of a minister and a working mom. While attending The University of North Alabama, he earned degrees in both Broadcasting and Journalism. After settling in middle Tennessee, he eventually met and married his wife Paula. The Ross’s have two sons currently attending college.
David Ross understand what hard work is. He worked his way through college as a deckhand on a towboats, sweeping floors, cutting lumber and washing windows. In addition to working television jobs he has worked various freelance video productions, and electrical work among other things, understanding living by the sweat of his brow.
Ross has spent a majority of his adult life working in broadcasting and has been blessed with a good career. He has worked for The Nashville Network, CMT, Qwest Digital, WSMV Channel 4 and now Viacom. Ross has had the honor to work with some very talented individuals over the years, and has seen Nashville go through a golden age of entertainment and have been privileged to be a part of it.
Most of his life, Ross has been a Libertarian and has voted that way for many years. He recently decided to run for Congress due to not being happy with the direction in which our country is going. Ross could not see anyone else stepping up to offer an alternative to the status quo so he decided to take a stand. Ross honestly feel that the only way to change the culture in Washington is to replace our representatives with new blood.
According to Ross’s opinion, neither of the two major parties deserves your vote based on their performance. As a nation, we have accumulated a national debt of more than 19 TRILLION dollars and what do we have to show for it. Both parties are quick to blame the other for this debt, but Ross says both the Democrats and the Republicans are equally responsible. It is imperative that we urgently work to reduce the deficit because we have no right to leave the next generation with the debt that we have accumulated.
The issue Ross has heard most often from the constituents that he has spoken with is corruption in Washington. It seems to be that the anger is directed at both Democrats and Republicans. The people have lost faith that elected officials care about them. The two-party system in America has stacked the deck in its own favor in order to stay in power. Remember, the lesser of two evils is still an evil. Our federal government appears to have become little more than a generation of vipers and a den of thieves, and Ross, for one, is tired of it.
It is Ross’s opinion that many of the politicians in Washington DC have been there too long, and have forgotten why they were elected and what their job is. How many congressmen know the pain of losing a job, and working multiple jobs to keep your head above water? How many congressmen have had to decide which bill to pay when you don’t have enough money to pay all the bills? Ross knows what it is like to work hard to support a family. He knows the difficulty of losing a job and the heartache of seeing retirement destroyed. He has seen good people lose their homes and that is something not easily forgotten.
What is going on in Washington is an insult to our ancestors and veterans who worked hard, sacrificed and in some cases died building this country. Our foreign wars have killed or displaced millions and accomplished nothing but ruined countries and giving birth to global terrorism. We have given up our freedoms to protect our freedoms. Liberty has become just a hollow word politicians use to get elected instead of the sacred right we inherited. Ross pledges that he will vote “No” on any bill that will increase the size, cost, power or extend the reach of government, because one should never grant the government powers that you wouldn’t want to end up in the hands of your worst enemy.
