Nickie sits between the President of the Rotaract Club, Kimberly Morris, and two members of the club, Tina Watson and Alex McWilliams.
October is Polio Awareness month and The Rotaract Club at Fisk University is working on spreading awareness about polio, its secondary illnesses, and its survivors.
They recently had Nickie Lancaster, the group leader of the Polio Heroes of TN Support Group, speak at their meeting. Nickie lives in Mt. Juliet and is also a polio survivor. She has over 700 members in her Polio Heroes Support group that she started and made a part of Easter Seals TN programming over 30 years ago.
At the recent meeting, Nickie elaborated on polio and how it has affected her life, as well as, how the local support group assists so many individuals in our area -post-polio and their families. In an effort to further spread awareness, The Rotaract Club is selling pins to help end polio.
