Dr. Guillermo Cadena, age 83 of Mt. Juliet, TN passed away November 6, 2017 where he passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by granddaughter, Isabella Ashley Cadena; father and mother, Excelino Cadena and Margarita Cucta De Cadena; sisters, Ana Fracisca Cadena De Garcia and Empera Cadena; brothers, Horacio Cadena and Blass Cadena.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys Mariela De La Torre Cadena; children, Fernando Cadena, Eduardo Cadena, and Alberto Cadena; grandchildren, Vicente Guillermo Cadena, Isabella Ashley Cadena, Adrianna Marcela Cadena, Cinjen Lei Cadena, Sasha Mariela Cadena, and Nicolas Eduardo Cadena; siblings, Paz Cadena De Garcia, Nestor Cadena, Victor Cadena, and Manuel Cadena.
Dr. Cadena received his medical school degree in December of 1961 from Universidad Nacional De Colombia. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1966 where he completed his internship at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN and went on to complete his residency as an OB/GYN at Saint Thomas Hospital and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Dr. Cadena opened up his private practice in Donelson, TN in November of 1975 and retired after 31 years of private practice.
The funeral mass will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Nashville, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 18 from 11 a.m. until the funeral mass.
As an expression of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org, or to the Lung Association, lung.org, in memory of Dr. Guillermo Cadena.
