It’s been a year, but the improvements to Cedar Creek Marina are about complete. After a tornado severely damaged the docks, Owners Carole and Vern Hamlin decide to go bigger and better. “There are more of them, and they are bigger docks,” said Vern.
The docks are now metal, as opposed to the old wood ones. It has taken a year to get the new docks built.
That isn’t the only improvements to the Marina. The Hamlins decided to make things better across the board.
“We wanted to make it better for everybody,” said Vern.
That includes an all new menu with many more seafood choices at the Fishtales Grill and draft beer. Thursdays will have specials on oysters and peal and eat shrimp.
Fridays, of course, is catfish night.
New this year will also be transient docks so people can park their boats and come have lunch or dinner. There will be eight slips which can hold 24-foot boats.
In addition to the great food, there will be live music every Friday and Saturday night starting May 12. That night Russell & Hop will perform, starting at 7:30 p.m.
On that day, there will be a grand opening celebration to kick off the season. There will be several vendors out there giving out prizes like Budweiser, Coke and the TWRA.
“If you need a slip, get it now,” said Vern. He said there are still some available, but they are filling up fast. They have slips that can hold anywhere from 20 to 60 feet.
Cedar Creek Marina is located at 9120 Saundersville Rd. in Mt. Juliet. They can be reached at (615)758-5174. They are open Tuesday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
