City Manager Kenny Martin city update
Mt. Juliet City Manager, Kenny Martin, discussed the state of the city in Monday night’s Board of Commissioners meeting.
Topics of Martin’s update consisted of the new Eastern connector Mt. Juliet bypass, road construction paving, and light pole painting.
Martin thanked citizens for being patient during the progress of these projects.
Martin stated, “I sympathize with citizens and understand that traffic is not a fun thing to deal with.”
The city manager continued to discussed the details of each project, such as the eastern connector bypass, a 26 million dollar project.
Martin continued, “This new Mt. Juliet road bypass should really help with traffic in the future, once finished. Hopefully within the next 12 to 16 months, this road will be open.”
“That’s probably going to be one of the best road improvements next to I-40 and Mt. Juliet Road the city’s seen in its history. It’s extremely big for us,” Martin said.
The new bypass constructed is planned to help traffic as much as 40%. With all of the traffic coming from Highway 70, Highway 109 & Gallatin, State Route 840, and Interstate 40, this should help Mt. Juliet Road tremendously diverting the through traffic to the new eastern connector bypass.
“This city and the fine residents of Mt. Juliet have worked extremely hard to get us to this point. We’re pretty proud of what we’ve accomplished and pretty proud of where we’re going.” said Martin.
Martin concluded, “The next couple of years and this year alone will be some of the best for our city.”
