MJ Police respond to hoax shooting call

Mt. Juliet Police Department responded to a hoax phone call alleging multiple people had been shot at a home in the Denny Hills subdivision.
Thursday morning around 11:20 a.m., the MJPD got a call from someone pretending to be a child saying that multiple people had been shot.
“We could kind of tell it was suspicious,” said MJPD Captain Tyler Chandler in the weekly Facebook update.
Chandler said that around 15-20 staff members responded to the call. They arrived at the home, spoke with the residents and searched the home to determine it was a hoax. Chandler said unfortunately these kinds of calls happen, and the person responsible might not even live in the area. He said there are many ways to place a phone call these days so detectives are following all leads to determine who placed the phone call.
