Mt. Juliet won their fourth straight regional title Wednesday, then punched their ticket to state Friday in two lopsided wins. Kyle Smith blasted two home runs, and Campbell Scholl shut down the opposition as the Bears won the regional title over Rossview Wednesday, 9-1.
Rossview had beaten the Bears earlier in the season, but this contest was all Mt. Juliet.
The Bears got a run in the second, three in the third, two in the fifth and three in the seventh.
Smith was 3-for-4 with the two home runs, and six RBIs. He has nine home runs on the season, despite missing a chunk of action at the start of the season. He also had a single and sacrifice fly.
Hunter Gilbert, Caleb Chowbay and Robby Amity all had RBIs.
Scholl went the entire seven innings, striking out six in the process to improve to 5-0 on the season. He did not give up an earned run.

Friday, Chowbay and the Bears shut down Overton to earn their fifth straight trip to state.
Forrest Goodwin led the attack going 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Gilbert and Zach Tompkins also had two RBIs.
Chowbay and Amity each had a RBI apiece.
Chowbay pitched all seven innings for the Bears, striking out six.
