MJCA football kicks off
Mt. Juliet Christian Academy’s (MJCA) football season is soon to kick-off this week.
The school’s team has been practicing on field along with schedule scrimmages.
The football team held their annual media day on the football field Tuesday.
Players and coaching staff were photographed and interviewed by local media outlets concerning the new team roster.
The varsity football team at MJCA holds a team that coaching staff is enthusiastic about this school year.
Coaches are eager to get the players on the field for the new football season.
“We are very excited about this team and this upcoming season,” said Mt. Juliet Christian Academy Athletic Director, Paul Christensen.
Saints football coach, Dan Davis, was hired in the Spring of 2014 to the football staff where he will continue leading the team as head coach this season.
Assisting Davis are assistant coaches Rico Council, Mike Kittrell, Dainon Sydney, Tommy Wilson, and Bernard Wilson.
Upcoming player, Andrew Kittrell, is one of the season’s football players again this year.
Kittrell, who successfully plays with a prosthetic leg, is very passionate for the game.
Last season he led the Saints in tackles as a freshman. He conquered 57 in his first year and was later named to the All East Middle District 1-A team.
The Saints linebacker recently sought out to qualify for the Paralympics in Rio.
Kittrell used a running blade to practice for the Desert Challenge Games in Phoenix earlier this spring. He was unable to complete qualifying for the Paralympic Games due to an unforeseen surgery that had to take place.
“The team consists of players that hold much potential this year,” said Saints assistant coach.
The teams first game to start the season is Friday night, August 19, at Cornersville High School. Game starts at 7 p.m.
