Mt. Juliet and Wilson got first round wins in the District 9-AAA Tournament Friday.
The Lady Bears beat Portland 10-2, advancing them to the second round Tuesday night. That game was completed after press time.
Wilson Central beat the Lady Bison of Station Camp, 14-0 in five innings.
Central received stellar performances from three seniors on the night while scoring in every inning. Morgan Powell got the party started in the first with a 2-run home run, one of her four hits on the night. Fellow senior Shelby Woodard hit a 2-run home run of her own in the third inning while Hannah Bodenhorn held Station Camp to three hits in five innings, striking out five.
Paige Robinson led off three straight innings with a single, and scored each time, while Lily Bombard also scored three runs for the Lady Wildcats.
Central played their second round game Tuesday night as well.
The finals will be played Friday, with an extra game Saturday if it is needed.
Central eliminates MJ baseball
Mt. Juliet baseball was eliminated from the District 9-AAA Tournament by Wilson Central Monday.
The Bears started the tournament strong when Jonathan Smith no hit Portland in the opener. Mt. Juliet won 6-0, but fell in the second round game against Wilson Central, 5-4.
The Bears stayed alive with a 7-2 win over Beech Monday afternoon, but lost to Central a second time in the late game, 4-1.
Central will now face Hendersonville in the District 9-AAA Championship Wednesday, 7 p.m.
