Rock and Roll dreams await at School of Rock

If you are looking to live that rock and roll lifestyle, School of Rock is coming to Mt. Juliet to get you there.
It will be the third School of Rock location in Middle Tennessee after the Franklin and Nashville locations. Franklin was opened in 2011 and Nashville followed three years later.
“Mt. Juliet was kind of a no-brainer,” said co-owner Angie McCreight.
McCreight said that there were already students at the other locations from the Mt. Juliet area, and the growth in the area just made too much sense.
School of Rock is a performance-based school which gets musicians ready for live shows by putting students through individual lessons as well as band rehearsals. Semesters run from 12-16 weeks depending on the season, and are capped off by live performances
“It’s kind of like being on a travel sports team,” said McCreight.
There is a rookies class for 5-6 year olds, rock 101 for 7-9, and rock 102 after that. There are programs in performance, songwriting, as well as an adult program. All students in the performance program can try out for the house band which can play in venues like The Ryman, City Winery, The Franklin Theatre, Nashville Predators games, The Johnny Cash Museum and Exit-In. School of Rock instructors, all of which are working musicians, will prepare you for these performances with weekly 45-minute lessons on your selected instrument, plus 2.5 hour rehearsal with your band. Classes have done shows like Van Halen in the past, and another will be doing Pink Floyd’s The Wall soon.
McCreight said she has loved her time in Mt. Juliet so far, as they have popped up at a few events, and the business community has been a big supporter in their time they have been getting the new location opened.
“They couldn’t be more welcoming,” said McCreight. “They have been great.”
School of Rock will have a grand opening, Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. They are located at 2010 Providence Parkway, Suite 100. You can reach them at (615)583-8765 or mtjuliet@schoolofrock.com. You can also check them out on the internet at https://locations.schoolofrock.com/mtjuliet/our-school.
