Deputies with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office located a fleeing registered sex offender after a brief search. Deputies attempted to serve Lamont Deshawn Rutland with multiple counts of Violation of Community Supervision issued by the Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole. Prior to contact, Rutland fled from the area of Cedar Grove Rd. in Mt. Juliet. Rutland was court ordered to wear a GPS tracking device, which he removed prior to being captured.
Sheriff Robert Bryan and his Deputies ensure that all convicted sex offenders living within Wilson County are monitored closely and held in compliance with all rules and regulations.
“Protecting the citizens of Wilson County is our highest priority. By closely monitoring convicted sex offenders and ensuring they are in compliance, we can not only inform the public of local offenders; but also, decrease the probability of offenders committing further offenses against our citizens,” said Sheriff Bryan.
Deputies acted swiftly in the capture of Rutland who is on lifetime community supervision for rape and is required to comply with the rules of the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Rutland was taken into custody in the area of Saundersville Rd. and Lucy Dr., in Mt. Juliet. He faces multiple counts of Violation Community Supervision and also faces additional charges stemming from the incident.
