The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center of Middle Tennessee recently opened the first walk-in allergy and asthma clinic in Mt. Juliet.
On Oct. 1, Allernow opened in the Mt. Juliet location of The Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center. After opening a similar clinic in Knoxville, the Mt. Juliet Allernow is a pilot location for Middle Tennessee.
According to Dr. Travis Cain, a board-certified allergist in allergy/immunology, the number one reason children end up in the Emergency Room is because of asthma.
Many Mt. Juliet residents have already taken advantage of the Allernow clinic because of asthma-related issues.
What makes Allernow different is that you don’t need an appointment to see a board-certified allergist.
The clinic mainly focuses on sinus issues, asthma, and food and skin allergies. The allergists and nurse practitioners are able to treat the patient on the spot, no appointment necessary. This will hopefully decrease the number of emergency visits to the hospital for children and adults with asthma or allergy problems.
“In Tennessee, what causes most adults to say ‘I think I have a sinus infection’? Its tree pollen and weed pollen and mold. It’s allergies that cause that.”
According to Cain, most walk-in clinics focus on primary care, which is why Allernow is unique. Anything that involves the allergy system, they are going to help manage acutely, said Cain.
“They’re getting the care they would be getting if they were to go to a specialist office in general,” said Cain.
The clinic is open during business hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. until noon.
Allernow is located at 5002 Crossings Circle, Suite 260, in Mt. Juliet.
